those square shelves would definitely look cool on the wall. you're thinking along these lines right? For the drawers to the right, I'd make sure a couple of them are deep enough to hold controllers/remotes/accessories. they look a little thin. i also find it's good to have space for adding more shelves. you're very fortunate to have a dedicated room. i wish i could have one. any lady friends come over, you can just shut the door and say it's your office.
Yes, the square shelves are just like that, really cool. The drawers are thin actually, they are 10cm in depth, which leaves the right space for the controllers and allows me to have many drawers as well. LOL, that's right. Many people freak out because my room is stuffed up with consoles, games and cables that's one of the reasons I'm glad I have this spare room now, so I can move all in there.
Okey, I figure I'd give an update on this, the project has been on hold for some months due to time/budget issues, but finally last Tuesday I received the TV rack. I dismissed the idea of a custom built one as it was too expensive, and if I tried to make it myself it would probably fall apart in seconds crushing all of my consoles to death :noooo: It's very similar to the rack I had in mind, though a bit larger, which would leave space for a wider cabinet for games and accessories, but eliminating the option of a drawer for controllers. Anyway, it's still a bit messy, I have to sort out lots of stuff I had stored in that room, and I plan on doing the electrical installation this weekend and setting up the 29" CRT TV and sorting out all the hookups through AV selectors, and drilling a couple of holes that are missing for the cables to pass through. Pictures: (Click for bigger image) Entering the room: Doors closed: Doors open: Close up: Misc. stuff: (RROD 360, another Xbox, a couple of NES's, MD, etc.) And the very colorful sofa: As soon as I finish setting up everything this weekend I plan on playing Zombies ate my neighbors till my eyes bleed :033:
I don't see MY contributions to that GAMING ROOM OF DOOM! Where are the images of the Artwork I made for you?
Nice project. Have you tought about getting an AV receiver to hook all those consoles? It's way better. And you can use the Prologic for the N64, Dreamcast, GC, etc... with the compatible games. You don't need to spend thousands on awesome speakers right away. You can just buy two good bookshelves and play in stereo, and later you upgrade to 5.1, if you wish... =) It's what I am doing... =D
Jessica Rabbit in a Chozo suit... You can use my artistic and bricolage skills now that I'm unemployed... BTW, your B-day present is coming along NICELY I must say....
Well, it's almost finished... I need to relocate some stuff that's still in the room but it's fully functional. I finally went for a Samsung 29" CRT because it was much cheaper than getting an LCD and a good VGA box for the old consoles. The room is really small (I live in an apartment) but it gets the job done. So, pics! Shelves with games (GC, Wii, XBOX, XBOX 360, PS1, PS2) and consoles that are not hooked up currently: (That white poor thingy in the bottom is my beloved and RROD'ed 360) That carrying case is for 360/PS3/Wii and currently holds a bunch of controllers & accessories. The colorful sofa, now with two stools: The TV Rack, now with an actual TV, and everything hooked up: The guts: (I know, lot's of stuff hooked up on composhit...) And the presents from our young and beautiful lady gamer K-Panggg: Bonsai: Ridley painting (drawn by her, like the Samus drawing I posted before): Current aims now: - Frame some NES/SNES posters I've got and hang them in the room. - Frame Ridley drawing and hang it as well. - Make a small shelf for the bonsai. - Get some cool neon/acrylic sign. - Buy a carpet, that floor gets dirty easily. - Get one last piece of furniture, maybe a drawer, to put in all my NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBA, DS, DC games (which are currently in my dorm), as well as all the controllers, cables and accessories for all the consoles, and all my handhelds. - Get ethernet into that room, probably will buy a cheap router and use it as a bridge as my current one does not get strong signal into that room.
You need a new name for the Bonsai... Small Deku Tree is not an option, since it dried up when I had it back here at home.... Suggestions anyone? And the Ridley drawing looks VERY childish looking when you look at the picture... Don't hang it, it embarrasses me.
Oh, yeah, AWESOME room!! Love it, a lot like my room but cleaner, nicer tv, everything's hooked up, beautiful entertainment center. The only thing I think I would add, besides a working 360 of course, would be a Sega Saturn. I will have a gameroom someday... everything is just crammed in my bedroom, which is tiny... 10x10... kinda like a cell... or dorm room. lol...
That bonsai is like a child to me.. I rescued it from the supermarket where it was dying of dehidration and lack of solar light... I gave it to Tchoin because it almost died again a few weeks ago. I had to read extensive bonsai literature to save it. So I did, and my mother told me that if she saw it in the house she'd throw it away... So I decided that the little tree deserves a good future. And what best purpose can it serve than to embelish a gaming room??? So there, the naming of the tree is no small matter. Of course, the new owner should make the final decision. My personal choice would be KRAID. Because it's GREEN
