New info about the state of PS2 alpha's of Oddworld. I wrote Lorne Lanning Last year sometime on facebook, About if there was anything he could share about the old PS2 alpha's of Oddworld. After a year tonight, I finally got my reply. Well atleast we know they still have them.
This is about Munch's Oddysee right? Before it became an XBOX exclusive? Or is it about something completely different? Either way, it's good to know that these are still on their hands, doubt we'll see more about them anytime soon. Lorne is a great guy though, I'm sure he'd love to release them. Can't wait for Abe's Oddysee HD
I'm sure I have an old ps2 maG that calls it munch's oddysee. Yeah "oddworld munch's oddysee, oddworld inhabitants are working to release the game for the launch of the playstation2 next spring"
Stranger's Wrath was also planned for the PS2 at a certain point, but in this case the game was a PS2-Xbox multiplatform title that ended up as a Xbox exclusive, instead of a PS2 exclusive being turned into a Xbox exclusive like Munch's Oddysee. I suppose the game refered is Munch's Oddysee.
Yeah, it did have a name. Initially, Munch's Oddysee was a PS2 exclusive! It was only later that they switched over to the XBOX.
There was also the Hand of Odd, which was going to be an RTS. It was going to be released on the PS2, but they stopped talking about it around the time they switched to Xbox development and it disappeared. Since they never released any gameplay footage, just some CG stuff, I'm going to guess it didn't get that far; maybe it was never actually running on a PS2? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPROds1eP5M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnnuQ_fuCSo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG6N68nhLwo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVmogOSIzL8 Just Add Water are apparently going to be releasing a Hand of Odd game, but my guess is it has very little to do with the original.
From what I remember reading in magazines years ago, the series was supposed to be five chapters with two episodes in each chapter, an Oddessy and an Exodus. Shame they never got as far as they invisioned, the series was great to start with.
The plan was actually for it to be a pentalogy with five main games; Abe's Exoddus and Stranger's Wrath were both "bonus games" that didn't count towards the five games. They talk about it here: http://www.oddworld.com/about/
Yep. My Abe's Oddysee manual mentions that on the back. I think the only two games that count are Abe's Oddysee and Munch's Oddysee right? I've never played the last two to be honest. I'm a PC gamer mostly, so I had to skip those. When Oddboxx was released, I gave both of them a try but they didn't really catch my attention (not to mention the amount of bugs and the nature of those atrocious ports). I'm willing to try Stranger's Wrath again though. Munch's Oddysee I will probably never really enjoy. I do love the first two though, I have some great memories from those games
