New low-cost Flash HuCard for Turbografx-16 and PC-Engine

I have recently completed another project, which is a low-cost Flash HuCard for the Turbografx-16 and PC-Engine systems.

This provides a way for developers and players of homebrew games (& fan translations) to play on a real system. Also, it provides a way to "try before you buy" with commercial games.

This is not meant to compete with the more expensive multicarts, that allow you to load every rom ever made, at once. It is just meant to load & play a single game. It is also very low power, due to the small number of ICs, which would be beneficial for those with battery-operated handheld systems.

I have sold a majority of the initial batch, but I am considering making a second batch if there is interest.

I would find this useful and it is definately cheaper then the SD / CF cards.

Are you planning to do any for other consoles like the Megadrive/Genesis, hmm cant think of any others that would be usedful and not require mappers, etc...

 

The card requires power from the console to flash the games, or you can flash it on your pc and plug into the console?

 

The card gets power from USB, when connected to the PC for flashing.

Then you disconnect it from USB, and plug it into your system, and play it like any normal HuCard.

You should never connect USB to the card while it is in your system (this is also clearly stated in the instructions).

 

I don't currently have plans for other systems......but I would consider it, if I have the time.

I have a skunkboard for the atari jaguar and it needs a computer near the system to flash the game. It's a pain moving my notebook near my gaming room just to flash a game.

Maybe you should give a little love to the underestimated atari jaguar. A flash cartridge with save support and able to load games without a computer would please tons of people.
I know the skunkboard sold out almost immediately all the batches it had.

 

I have always been interested in picking up a Jaguar some day. I really want to play the Aliens VS. Predator game!

 

Both releases of the skunkboard sold out before they were for sale via pre-order so I assure you will make some cash as the only flash cart for the system is the actual dev carts and it ran me $500 for it and only holds on game at a time and I have to keep a legacy PC around to flash it, ughhhh

 

It's actually pretty cool but the lack of music kills the game.

BTW, have you ever played Catacomb on DOS? Alien vs Predator have all the places alike so you will get lost just like Catacomb.

 

I've never played Catacomb. By chance, do you remember how much the Skunkboards sold for, when they were available?

 

$250 bucks, really expensive, huh?

 

I have now sold out of the first batch of cards. I plan to do a second, smaller batch, soon, for anyone that didn't get one yet.
