It is strange how nintendo would not milk a game such as the arcade Mariokart game, considering that the arcade cabinet is quite rare to my knowledge anyway. I was hoping for a gamecube version of it, but does anyone have valid reasons to believe that this title could/would be a launch title for Nintendo's next console? (pending some visual improvements thanks to more memory, but nevertheless a natural transfer from triforce to revolution, in terms of memory and processing power) I recall reading something about a steering wheel for the revolution, but it sounded more like a rumour than anything else (not that steering wheels are anyting exceptional, but logitech's doesnt exactly work like a charm with mariokart on GameCube.) Is the game even worth porting to nintendo's next console? Considering that it's a ready meal, nintendo should be nuts not to make a quick buck out of porting it.
I'd love to try this game out for myself too, after seeing it previewed/reviewed in recent Arcadia issues. Perhaps Nintendo is waiting for the Rev before porting it...I guess it's too similar to the existing GC version to warrant releasing it on the GC.
Whatever they do,I pray that we can download new courses for mariokart on the revolution via the online service. It's about time to get a course-a-month for games such as mariokart and F-zero, or even the next mario platformer. The kind of potential the 64DD had but with easier access
My gosh, you are right! That seems like a great idea for Nintendo to do, for one to upload newer levels via an online connection for games like Mario Kart, etc.
Maybe some crossover between the DS versions too? Possibly if you DL a map to your Rev and can use it on your DS version also? Of course this could also mean that I might finally get my battle mode online, unlike in the DS version.
Not the current DS version, i dont think so anyway. If they ever provided an expansion a la band brothers though, that would be a nice treat, but I doubt that it would be online-abled due to the fact that not everyone owning Mariokart DS would own the expansion etc.
I know it's unprobable, but I would personaly love to be able to make my own mariokart tracks based on levels of the corresponding Mario platformer. Just imagine setting pointers etc and running around in an actual platformer-mario level, anyway you want ^_^ Not to mention that a Super Smash Bros. level and/or character could be imported on every first-party nintendo game ever made from now on. Imagine buying the next Metroid Prime and getting a couple of levels and characters added to the existing roster, in Super Smash Bros. format (not unlocked, but actually added, as a PC game would upgrade for example)
Mark, am I correct in reading that as sarcasm? Why is it so great for nintendo to release track updates and added features via download, yet when basicly anyone else does it, they are evil.
