Right, I've decided my aging Nokia 6600 needs replacing - half the buttons don't work anymore (including the "hang up" red button, very annoying!) and it's held together with electrical tape. I'm thinking I'd like to stay with a Series 60 - although if there is anything out there nowadays which is as versatile as S60 then let me know about it - I just don't want to be stuck playing java games all the time - Not when I'm used to using SCUMMVM to play monkey island at the moment! Currently I am looking at the N70 and N80 - I can get the N70 free with a tariff, but the N80 i will have to pay £99 for - is that worth it for Wi-Fi and a better camera, as well as a slide phone which I would prefer? If anyone owns one of these 2 phones let me know how you like it. If you have another recommendation which is a similar price (i.e. less than £100 with a contract, preferably free) then let me know and I'll look into it. I don't give a toss about the size or weight of a phone really - I have big pockets! Features are more important to me.
I recently purchased the Kyocera slider remix. I am not too sure if they have that where you are located. I got it at normal price ($200 USD). It has 16 mb of internal memory, Bluetooth capabilities, 1.5mp digi camera; it can record videos, and has a slot for transflash memory cards. There is also an adapter to give it a joypad for playing games instead of using the normal number pad. I love it. The only downplay to it is that the screen is on the outside so it's more susceptible to receiving scratches on the screen if not protected.
Both europe and japan get way better phones than the US. If I were going to buy another Nokia that the N91. This phone has a whooping 4GB HDD, more than enough for anything you'll ever need.
Specs from one site http://www.directmobilephones.com/orange_spv_m500.htm I have just had this one replaced with a nice minty fresh one I will be getting it sim un-locked soon and then upgrading So if anyone is interested pm me in a few weeks
I have an iPod mini, an MP3 player is the only thing I don't give a shit about on a phone. Also the N91 is mighty pricy compared to the N80 or N70, and in many aspects (i.e. all but the hard disk) the N80 is better. Anyway, I'd rather have a card slot as then the memory size is upgradeable  Somehow I don't think this will play too nicely with my mac! Screen is a bit low res for one that big too. Keep banging suggestions to me, I'll find something perfect one day!
K, your point is valid since flash cards are getting cheaper everyday, plus most people say the N91 is kinda heavy. Anyway, you say you could get the N80 for just £99 extra? then go for it: it's a better phone and sliders are way more confortable than candybars. About WiFi, how many hotspots are in your area? cuz Skype is just around the corner, and dunno how's the service around there, but here I'll rather use a wifi phone than going back to verizon...
Not too many hotspots in the middle of the countryside where I live, but I'm moving to London in october so I'll be able to find plenty there. The only things that put me off the N80 are: -S60 V3, so not many bits of software yet -No Skype Client yet. Apart from that I'm pretty settled on the N80. Just gotta find the spare £100 now!
As I said skype is coming, so no problem on that. Extra apps are a matter of time, so patiente my friend. Obviously if you go with any older model you'll see a big slowdown in new apps as soon as the new models start being popular. Is a market rule. Anyway, verizon is teh evil, use skype...
vonage? whats that? Jokin, anyway, as I said cellphone carriers in the US are barely above those in Irak and Nebulon-7, so I dont know if carriers in europe are better or worst. Expect a WiFi phone craze when WiMax becomes a standart. Dude are you doing this on purpose?
