Finally got around to editing and uploading the video of the LaCie monitor. Youtube video quality is shit as usual. Sorry about my voice sounding weird, my throat's been bothering me lately. It's kinda long, so feel free to skip around. Enjoy, and please view in 720p for full effect.

By the way, something I've noticed since I originally made this thread, and which I forgot to mention in the video, is that for some reason reds look particularly amazing on this monitor. I have no idea why or what it is about them that looks so good exactly - I guess they just look really rich. The cars in Ferrari F355 Challenge are beautiful. I've also been playing Shutoko Battle 2 with a red car, and it also looks amazing.

Nope, don't have it and don't have a gun either. I'd like to get both, but the guns are expensive, unless you don't need an official gun, which I do (I want one, anyway). I'm sure I'll get them eventually.

EDIT: Actually I guess they're not that expensive.

worth getting! there's other shooters on the DC too confidential mission and something else, i can't remember right now its too early and i've not slept.

I've been looking through some of the technical details of the monitor, and now I'm toying with the idea of trying to connect my Model 3 to it. It has a list of "standard resolutions" that doesn't include the Model 3's EGA, but I think it's possible that it might support "non-standard" resolutions, even though it's not explicitly stated in any technical document I've read. I did find one document that said that the LaCie supports composite sync, which is good, because that's what the Model 3 outputs (no separate H & V sync).

It's all speculation for the moment, since my Model 3 is nonfunctional. However, once I sell a few things, I'm thinking about getting a new PSU for it (the one I have now sucks and does not sufficiently power the board). I have other ways of testing to see if it still works or not, and once I do that, it should be fairly simple to make a VGA adapter for it. I'll be posting stuff when and if any of this ever materializes.

Alternatively, my friend's dad was telling me he has a Commodore 64 that he might want to sell, or give to me in exchange for helping him with some computer stuff. I think it has a monitor, and if so it might support RGB and/or EGA. Just a possibility.

most older CRT monitors will support EGA as it was a standard used in personal computers pre VGA/svga, used in many dos games i miss my fuji e213 :( it was badass and free both great! i think it made the streetlights dim when i turned it on :D was great for the dreamcast too

I'm quite sure it will support ALL EGA and ModeX stuff. Maybe there will be not enough preset memory for all resolutions though and you'll have to adjust screen position each time you'll need to use some non-standard modes, but that's about it. They usually just don't put all supported resolutions in manual, just common and tested ones.

IIyama HM903DTA doesn't officially support 320x175 or 2048x1536@60-77Hz but works just fine with these modes.

Even if it didnt support csync, you can get H and V from csync with a EL1883 pretty easily.

Those high end, digitally controlled CRTs seem to support everything. Separate sync, composite sync, sync-on-green, not a problem.

Yeah, except my monitor is not an "older" CRT monitor. It was probably one of the last CRT monitors produced. Still, I'm optimistic.
