I don't care about how it looks, just how it sounds and its overall quality. I'm sceptical about the ipod video though. Or any recommandations?
uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh? I think i wasn't clear enough. Music. Sound Quality. Space for more than 120 albums in high quality. Battery life. Hardware quality/life. Utility. Features. PSP is a 100 per 100 sure No.
I would say get a Creative M:Vision i don't own one but have had a play arround with it and its really good, My sister has the Ipod video and although its good i would prefer the Creative. The quality of them both is good and they both output great sound. I would stick with the creative myself but maybe if you have a shop where they would let you try them out then myabe that would help you decide
Ipod Video audio quality isn't brilliant, my HK fake NANO I bought for like £30 on ebay had better sound quality, seriously, it was awesome.
I'd go with Creative if I was you. I don't own the new one that you're looking at but I have tested it out in the stores with my own earphones. I was really impressed by the audio quality even if the song they had on it was crappy M-Flo. It's also pretty easy to use thanks to a friendly interface. Owning a Creative MP3 player myself and knowing the high quality of their items I'd never pick i-pod over a Creative product. Yakumo
I had a video and it was annoying. You had to convert all the videos, and they killed the battery really quickly, and cause I'm in high school, everyone's like "ooooh put on a video! cool cool cool!" but if I did, I probably wouldn't have enough battery to get me through the day. They've improved the battery, but I dunno if it's enough. The life in my used black and white 4th gen iPod's better. I say go for the Creative.
UHHH screen size/quality, price, features. Not owning a PSP I'm going on brief encounters, but you should get all of the above far better than you would on an iPod video, hence my suggestion; and if you're not interested in video, why are you looking at an iPod video in the first place? Anyway, I've experienced the audio fidelity on iPods before, and come away disappointed each time; not that you'd notice it on the atrocious "mug me" bundled buds that most people put up with. Add to that a custom video codec, and the PSP seems a far more logical choice to me, despite the lower storage size - if, as I say, you're looking for video playback. You get game functionality free, too... Maybe you could come across a little less patronising next time? It was an honest suggestion. If you're just after an MP3 player, say so, and prevent such time-wasting responses as mine.
I use Creative players and have never been dissapointed. Sound quality is very good. The only dissapointing thing about Creative players is Rockbox doesn't yet support them, which is a shame, but that's only an issue for free software/ogg vorbis fans really. I really don't understand the iPod thing. The thing sounds like farting into a kazoo what with the cheap componants and 128kbps iTunes downloads.
Creative and the new Zune players are pretty good (The Toshiba Gigabeat if you don't mind transcoding of DivX etc). You might want to hold out a little longer until mainstream manufacturers start supporting FLAC, some already do. The Cowon iAudio X5L is well worth a look and hands on experience is good, it supports FLAC and Ogg and various other formats. The screen is a little small though. iPods are not great for sound quality. In fact, iPods are only a success thanks to good marketing and sheep mentality.
Why is everyone so much against the iPod? Some good features about the iPod: -Easy to use, and you can scroll through your music very fast. When scrolling through 20 gig worth of music, I am very grateful I can do it in about 10 seconds instead of holding down a button for a minute or whatever. -Itunes and iPod work great together. -It's thin, looks slick(I know you don't care but still). -The Battery life is more than OK imo. 10+ with ease. I've had my iPod for over a year, and I'm very happy with it.
I like my iPod, but I wouldn't trust it to last if I walked around with it all of the time. I absolutely hate iTunes with a passion, and avoid it unless I'm putting songs on my iPod. The bass output on the iPod is lacking and occasionally there will be a bit of distortion. Battery life is actually pretty good - mine usually lasts around 12-15 hours, depending on what I'm using it for (video sucks up juice bad). I rarely use it by itself anyway, though, so none of this is a huge deal to me. If I had to choose again, though, I'd probably go with Creative. The iPod is pretty nice, but it's horribly overpriced and the somewhat mediocre sound quality is disappointing.
I just got a Sandisk Sansa Express and have been loving it. 1gb onboard, microsd slot with FM radio with recording of FM and voice. Sure 3gb is small but its got 15 hours of battery life! Best part is that you can just drag and drop mp3s onto it. You could snyc with WMP or the like but why?
I own a Vision:M. It's a spectacular player. The LCD screen is nice and vibrant, and the audio quality is wonderful. Provided you have a good pair of headphones mated to the player, It'll sound wonderful. Much better than an iPod. Oh, it also has a customizible six band EQ. Not to mention, the thing is a freaking brick. I've dropped it on the floor multiple times, and it still functions. The battery life is good as well. I get about eight hours mixed (Listening to both music and watching videos).
I've had 2 ipods and various other brands, i'm still happy with my nano but price/feature wise the ipod is just pure price for brand name and image. The battery life and sound quality is poor/mediocre at best compared to same price alternatives, itunes is a pain in the ass as are the custom video codes/formats. If i had to choose from the creative or ipod, i'd deffinitly get the creative if only for the sound quality.
i used to hate it on windows, but i started using once i got my mac, and well... it's really nice together with gimmesometune .
I've tested both these and found that the iPod has better sound when using MP4-related audio (eg: AAC) and the compression on it appears to be better than MP3. I also have found that iTunes rips CDs very effectively and is a lot more useful over over music stores (Yes, I have an eMusic subscription. I've cancelled it because it's rubbish in comparison). However, if you're using mostly MP3 tracks then the Creative one is the way to go.
