In fairness, I met a few people who worked in factories in China (one lady actually grew up in one!) It really isn't as bad as portrayed in the media. The standard of living in these places often outstrips living in the modern cities out there. They have canteens, medical centres, (some very good) schools and modern living accomodation.

The funniest Nike related story I remember was seeing a pair 'Nkie' flip-flops... how did they get it so wrong?!

Apparently, by law, most factories MUST produce goods that are also sold within China. Any and all factories are 50% chinese, 50% foreign owned. No foreign company owns a factory outright on the mainland. They can't.

These shoes, as we all know, cost peanuts to make. It's not them that are at fault, it's the foreign investors who hawk them to us at grossly inflated prices. It's not hard to go there and find someone who'll sell you these otherwise expensive items for the peanuts they cost to make... In this same situation, I myself was offered a fleet of basketball tops for something like 25p/50c each. Unfortunately, not being an enterprising businessman I didn't take up the offer of a container full. What the heck would I do with em'!?

Get 'em in Hong Kong? They'll be way cheaper there than London anyway.

Won't happen, it's a general release. You'll be able to find these for months to come.

Add a pre-order to your cart and as shipping destination you can select "Hong Kong local pickup"

    SO WHAT? ;)

    wow size 7 ?!?!

You should get a discount when you get them.

You'd think it would be half the price of my size 13s.
