Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new cell phone. Thing is I haven't really been keeping track of cell phone technology/service lately, don't really know what's out there. I currently am with Verizon but hold no loyalty to them at all and will jump to whoever can give me the best rate and the coolest phone. Honestly I use my phone like twice a week so I don't need ten billion free minutes. Which provider gives you the best phone when you sign up? Things I want in the phone: must be able to sync it up to the computer install third party software on (nobaly games like the Play Now varitey) Would be nice to have a camera buit in Things that are not important to me: Internet access, including email. I don't need people sending dick enlargement spam to my cell phone Instant text messaging- I know this is problably standard now, but I never use it. If I want to talk to someone, on my phone, I will call them and use my voice. What the phone looks like- I really don't give a fuck any suggestions for models, manufacturers, etc., I don't care about buying one used.
Can't help with providers, but on phones Nokia's series 60 range (includes 7650, 3650, 6600(my phone) N-gage and err another one, forgotten the number of it) are all pretty nice. You can download loads of software onto them, using bluetooth(using a £20 dongle) or in some cases USB, All except the n-gage have cameras, and they aren't too bad quality - for phone cameras (VGA, look for some pictures in posts by me for quality levels). You can access email, but i dont tend to bother - text messaging (SMS) is easier... Could be a bit overkill for what you're looking for though
Get yourself a phone running symbian OS then you can play as many games and run as much software as you want. I've got a nokia N-gage QD and it runs symbian os 6.1. I can play games on it watch movies, play mp3's, synch with the pc via bluetooth and can use mmc memory cards to store as much stuff as i want. It's not the best loking or smallest phone in the world but i got it because you can do so much with it.
I don't know if they're out in the US, but I'm very satisfied with my Sony Ericsson T630. It can play Java and Mophun games (though its Java VM is said to be inferior to Nokia's implementation), has Bluetooth and IR, a very good screen, supports .MID/.IMY/.EMY for ringtones and JPEG/GIF/animated GIF and apparently even PNG for images, a lot of other nice options (organizer etc.) and a camera - and it was free with my very cheap subscription :smt023
