the ps3 is a big sexy unstackable bread bin that was copied by microsoft and nintendo *Concura ps, I have no idea how or why microsoft and nintendo decided to set their nex gen systems upright... like a ps2.
hopefully in the future Sony will come out with a mimic of the "ps2 mini" and downsize the hottness that is ps3 into a "mini-me" version that's just as aesthetically... pleasing. I'll take a bread bin over a brick any day. Spiderman is the best movie ever*. FTW. *...that's before the Halo movie comes out. *Concura
Actually, the ps3 design is a small change of the ps2 design, wich was a total rip-off of The Atari Falcon microbox, wich could stand vertically or horizontally. So, again, its sony who copied, not microsoft or nintendo. But i wasnt talking design wise anyway. But if you want to play this game, then we could start talking about Shoulder buttons, analog sticks and rumble features. Look, Just stop your game, you are really starting to get on people's nerve. If you contribute to nothing else than trying to sell a console like a sales man, im pretty sure people will start talking about banning. Everything you posted so far, sorry to say this, was pretty useless, biased and didnt contributed to the forums knownledge at all.
Maybe cuz the PS2 is the best seller of the videogame market with a 66% portion of the console market? It's like the DC, it looked like a PSone... Nice one cahaz, I didn't know about the Falcon:thumbsup:
The Xbox was big and ugly. At least the PS3 is pleasant to look at. Anyway, it was the stupid giant Xbox controllers that were the real problem. You want it stackable? Wtf? That's what the shelves under your TV are for.
As long as the PS3 doesn't overheat then I don't really care what it looks like. Being stackable would be nice, but is that really an option these days, with how hot these things get? I like the XBox 360 case design the most, and would argue it is probably one of the best ever. The changeable faceplate is a great feature (though the build quality of the case is another thing entirely. Very cheap!) WTF is all this copying nonsense about anyway? The XBox controller ripped off the Dreamcast, the Dreamcast controller ripped off the N64, the Playstation ripped off the SNES controller, etc etc. When companies copy each other we benefit, so why all the belly aching?
And overheat it will, as they unwisely have decided to include the power converter inside the console once again. I always like to keep that hot brick outside the main console.
Indeed. If it blows then there is less chance it will take the whole unit along with it and it is replaceable years down the line, when everyone is playing the PS6 (if Sony make another console after this one)
as long as he didn't say game machine, then console is justifyable for the Sony PlayStation family *Concura
Why do consoles seem to have to play hi-def movies, store photos, play music, go online, have a desktop (or user interface or dashboard or whatever the hell they're calling it), have a monsterously fast and expensive processor, do the dishes, walk the dog, and do everything else while playing game? Honestly with the $400 worth of crap they pile on nowadays it seems that instead of these being the extra features the GAMES THEMSELVES will become an extra feature.Example: It does (insert $400 worth of crap here) and btw it plays games to. I believe instead of adding so much crap onto the thing they should focus on making it a GAME CONSOLE LIKE IT WAS INTENDED TO BE! Sorry for the rant btw.;-). Anyway the fact that this thing is so huge just proves my point.
Cuz the mainstream wants that crap, that's why. Is a dead end, like in cold war when if the soviet had something we had to have it too: now if your console lacks ANYTHING from the competition then buyers will use it against you. Just look at Dreamcast and GC: the fact both lack DVD playback was a common topic used by PS2 and Xbox fanboys to bash both consoles.
I quite like the idea of having a HD movie player included in the purchase as long as they don't cripple it, which they probably will to prevent other manufacturers from being shot in the foot. No one is going to want to compete with a $600 all singing and dancing player - it would mean selling below that price point and makng a loss.
I have not seen anyone say that it has an internal PSU and also they have claimed the unit is as cool and quiet as the PSTWO. I would guess its an external unit like the 360.
I'm starting to wonder if Sony really solved the rumoured overheating problems of the PS3 Prototypes. The PS3 shown at E3 has vents everywhere. http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/14/ps3-let-there-be-vents/ Knowing that the PS2 is so fragile ( the lens die because of dust ), i think this could be a big problem with the PS3. EDITED: More comparison pics between the E3 2005 version and final 20GB and 60GB versions http://ruliweb2.dreamwiz.com/ruliboard/read.htm?num=12947&table=game_ps04&main=ps
Yes they really snuck those stacks of vents on, as long as it doesn't sound like a monster I'm okay with that, I love how quiet the GC is thanks to its external power. Though I guess we can guess and gather all day but only being unleashed into the industry will we find out truthfully how the PS3 will turn out.
