http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/4-/8922102/Sega-Mega-Drive-Console-With-15-Games/Product.html What in the world... is it really licensed? I am afraid that, even if indeed official, it's another chip unit that sounds like crap... or could I be wrong?
I view the repetition as a testament to the growing popularity of Sega's old hardware. How often do NES and SNES clones produce this amount of excitement?
dont know, but you can get a REAL megadrive/genesis for about $6 USD in pawn-shops/ebay  I got 2 REAL genesis's (one a model 1, one a model 2) in my local GoodWill store for $3 each! Get a real one, its cheaper, and beter quality/compatibility.
that is a poor POS which uses poor software emulation instead of hardware based simulation... avoid it and get a real deal
Is there a website anywhere called "Boycott Famiclones" or something? I'd love to join the boycott, if it existed. Famiclones/MD clones are a blight on gaming, and on the memory of those great systems they claim to pay tribute to. What are the pluses of these systems, besides the "convenience" of finding them in major stores?
Non gamer folk who wander by these units and say "ooooooooh I remember those" are generally the main target with these things, they're also the kind og people who are unlikely to notice the difference in sound or frame in comparison to the real thing.
Hey, famiclones are awesome in their own ways! :fresh: I love my powerjoy! (no, im not being sarcastic. It keeps me busy because im always outbid on real nes systems on ebay.) Not only that, but they are useful for making portable nes systems due to the small size.:110: (i plan on placing the guts of my powerjoy in a nes cartridge!) :mario:
