Has anyone tried ketchup flavored Lay's chips? I hear they're delicious but they aren't available in the states.

Protip: Japanese simply have no idea how to make a proper chip...especially corn. (Potato are passable, but that's about it).

    God, that looks awful.

They're quite good. I think they still sell them here, I can send you some if you want.

    Oh japan.

Still i'd be down with trying them once. ;-)

If I could get any snack right now. I would totally go for some Nestle Ice Tea from China. This stuff was awesome

They are common to find in Canada. So I can get you some if you need them.
I personally have not tried them my self. I keep to cool ranch Doritos. =P

True that. I ate 'Konsome' and 'BBQ' flavored chips recently and disposed of both before I could even finish. Actually, the first time I ever threw up in Japan was the night I ate a bag of those 'Cheese Pizza' flavored chips.

Yep, in Canada Ketchup chips is really common. For a second, I almost wondered if I was thinking about the same thing you were because I would never expect anyone to try and import them.

As for ice iea, I've kind of got used to American ice tea. Perhaps it's because I find Chinese ice tea tastes like regular Chinese tea, except cold. If I want cold Chinese tea, I'll just go for yin cha in a crappy restaurant. But thats just me.

Actually the Tea I posted is American Tea. It's just Nestea (either lemon flavor tea or green tea flavor tea w/ lemon). It's just when I had those in china they were really good. The flavor is not the same as the one the sell back here in canada. Try one next time you go back. =)

I'd have my wife's mom send me some if not for the fact a few bottles would add a lot of weight to a package (plus it's a liquid, so no telling how customs would feel about it).

Ah, well I tend to paint any kind of Chinese packaged ice tea with a broad stroke, because like the Japanese, they tend to butcher how foreign food should taste like.

But in regards to actually obtaining it, doesn't T&T stock it or at least a Chinese shopping center? You would think at least one store in the Pacific Mall area would sell it.

Sadly I don't think so. They tend to mostly import jpn/chn only stuff and since this is a chn version of a western drink, why import it.

I'm not sure if all T&T are like this but the one I went to in toronto left me unimpressed. It was ok but lacked a lot of things. There is a big store next to the pacific mall I need to try going back to again (went a really really long time ago). As for china town, yeah don't touch that stuff if you value your life. Instead there is a place in korean town that is pretty good for imported snacks (not so much on drinks).

Actually speaking of drinks. Thats another thing that sucks. Everybody seems to import Suntory Grapefruit drink but not the lemonade. My wife's parents had the lemonade one when I visit and that was pretty good.

They used to have Ketchup crisps here in the uk (Walkers are the same as Lays?) from what I remember they were lush! As for the green Tea the best one I had was in McDonalds in Germany!

Heh, well I suppose it depends on which T&T you go to as I know some are pretty crummy and some are huge and wonderful (At least from the comments I heard from people anyway).

I suppose the best bet is to buy from smaller Chinese groceries. If they stock Chinese versions of Lay's with flavors like seafood, satay, etc, I would think there's a good chance they might have those drinks. But then again, perhaps there are some distribution laws which prevent the sale of them.
