Most mod-chips for Wii claimed to be "undetectable".

I would like to see if this holds water to the real test at hand. (which I think, technically, it should - your wii should be unaffected by a drive-mod)

People who updated their wii while having a mod-chip installed, please feel free to share your views and experience on the matter.

I have read that people who modded their Wiis and then upgraded are experiencing NO PROBLEMS at all.

I believe what Nintendo is trying to say is, "We do not guarantee this update will work with your Wii if it is modified," or maybe Nintendo is just blowing steam to scare people.

Since you have to open the console itself and modify it, Nintendo's rationale is "not my problem."

Not much they can do. The design of the system is stupidly easy to modify.

great, now the Wii can only play pirates without GCOS, so homebrew was thrown out the window. Lame.

Yeah I guess Nintendo also want to keep there console clean from pirates but I wouldn't count the people making the mod chips yet I'm sure they will find a way to bypass all this

I mostly meant that this new update cripples homebrew functionality while fully allowing (as previously) pirates to be ran, further limiting the scope of modchips on the Wii.
