Hello all, I have been a fan of this site for years, yet never bothered to make it "official." I have been lurking for ages it seems. I'm a middle aged game freak. Having owned every major system since the Atari 2600. I bought a 3DO when they were $500 plus and can't seem to wait till a systems price drops (bought a PSP the day they came out - even tho I'm sure they will be 50 bucks cheaper within a few months). I initially thought I wanted to own EVERY game system ever made, but that seems almost impossible, at least for someone with limited funds. Last year I finally obtained a boxed Pippen, MSX 2 . and Marty: so I'm slowly adding to my collection. I especially crave import oddness, having many of the Japan Dreamcast Limited Editions and such. Thanks for "listening." William
Hey; I plead videogame insanity. I actually think the 3DO was a great system , but too overpriced for its time. Still I think the "all in one" idea (aka CDI) doesn't work. (See Gizmondo for the latest mistaken step - still I'll be in line for the US release) William
Welcome, welcome! If you had the chance/inclination, I'd like to see/hear more on your MSX2; I've always thought it and it's predecessors were really interesting systems, but can't really find a whole lot of information online beyond the usual hardware pinouts and MSX->MSX2 conversion directions. I've currently got a Yamaha CX5M MSX unit here collecting dust, as I have no idea what sort of video cable it uses; I've tried my Supergrafx's cable but can't get anything to show on the TV. Anyways, welcome again!
I found a Sanyo Wavy MSX-2 on the street in Japan but it was pretty wet from the rain so I left it be :-( And GSL, you *might* be able to obtain the pinout to the Yamaha connector with a continuity tester, if you open up the unit and search the PCB for some sort of RGB->composite encoder like the Sony CXDwhatever and use a continuity tester. Catch me on MSN if you want more info.
Sounds like you should have been here ages ago I am sure you will find it informative and freindly. Nice to have an apparently more senior member than half of these youths here
