Went to penny-arcade.com to look at their latest comic, since I am bored at work. I suggest you go read it to have a good laugh and to see news media sensationalism at its best. The local news channel is trying to spin a story where a child molestor with a Nintendo DS can start chatting with your children (who will also have to have a DS) and dupe them into having sex if your child is within the range of the molestor's Nintendo DS. Penny Arcade has a better take on this. Here is the link to the story first. http://www.myfoxmilwaukee.com/myfox...n=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=3.1.1 HEre is the link to the comic.. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic
Man, do I love* FOX news. *fucking despise Edit: Forgot about the comic. That's actually a pretty accurate representation.
Haha, thats amazing. I love how the reporter was so dramatic about it. I mean if your going to believe that will happen, we mise as well start telling our kids about how sending paper notes to child molestors is bad. Love the comic though, so true.
I dunno, some guy MAYBE could use this for evil purposes (and suceed). I haven't heard of any Pictochat related kidnappings or anything, but lets face it: Most kids are stupid and some parents are ignorant. Its definitely possible for something to happen. In the information age, you can find out almost anything if you are determined. Hmmm. I wonder if Nintendo will put tracking devices on the next handhelds to prevent something like this?:110:
LMAO! That's great! I haven't used Pictochat on mine. Is there not a parental control, as per, say, the PS2? If not, that's pretty poor planning on Nintendo's part. However, this does go a bit far. Yeah, I like the whole how is he writing AND driving thing? haha! Similarly, the airport comment. Err, yeah... someone in the airport COULD communicate with your child. IF you let them have their DS in the airport. IF you let them go on Pictochat in the airport (and why the hell would you?) I understand parents' concern, and yes, as the manufacturer Nintendo SHOULD make every effort to make it as safe as possible. Perhaps they could give more information for parents (e.g. a leaflet or something, and implement parental control). Still, parents DO need to stop passing the buck - in the end, it is down to them if they aren't monitoring their kids properly.
I m amazed on how you have shitty Friend Codes per game on Wii and DS online games, and Pictochat is 'anything goes'. I wish it was the other way around. I d rather get mollested playing mariokart online while chatting with some hot girl, than waiting with pictochat in hand *just in case* i get layed xD lol
