UPDATE: The HGA is on the way, it should be here in a week. The showdown begins. After reviewing the MAS Super NOVA, I decided to compare it to the other turn key "supergun" setup on the market, the HGA. Currently the HGA is being built for us, but when it arrives the two will finally be compared side by side, feature by feature in the ultimate supergun showdown! Countdown is 14 days! In the meantime go to the forums and let the trash talk begin!
Honestly, Kyuusaku, I was thinking just the opposite. While the button colors on the HGA are awful looking, as long as they're customisable (which I'm sure they are) the HGA overlay is much more attractive. The MAS graphics are jumbled and just looked poorly put together. The HGA graphic might be a bit corny...but it reminds me of an actual arcade machine. Something with a high tech, futuristic theme.
The HGA is laminated graphics, so there is a limit to the surface graphics. At this point all I care about it the quality of the device and the video
It seems the VGA model is about 3 months away so we'll be getting the one they have now, but it's enhanced to do svideo, composite, and RGB
I meant to post this in the other supergun thread, but I might as well post it here. Are you interested in trying out the supergun I make? I'd hardly call it a "production" model, but I've made 10 or so already using the same general layout so it's a standard model. I'd be really curious what a third party thinks of it. Some notes on it: - the video output is composite, S-Video, and component - RGB adjustment by pots on the back side - pinned for use with Neo Geo sticks (not 6-buttons compatible, but is Atomiswave 5-button compatible; ie, no kick harness) - +5V and +12V PSU (5 Amps on the +5V, so most things will run on it)
Sounds good, send me a pm and when I get the HGA I'll have some good old fashioned home brew to compare it to.
D-Lite, you didn't put in a direct RGB out? That's a shame - even in America there are people who have RGB monitors.
I could, but I have not. The reason? I can count the number of people that have asked me for that on no hands. Really, why would someone spend all the money on a supergun built with an encoder installed if they were just going to use RGB? I understand your question, but it's really never come up.
