So I was thinking about getting rid of my Blackberry and go for one of those new Nseries phones. Until I read this WTF? since when you cant move games from one system to another? Seeing phones get broken or replaced way too often I can only say that Nokia has shown the world that it has learned NOTHING since their first fucked'up incursion into gaming, the original Ngage.
I don't think this is Nokia's fault. The previous software distribution method on MMC cards was perfectly portable from device to device. I'm willing to bet it's the software developers who are insisting that games be "protected" with whatever cockamamie DRM scheme is in place now. It doesn't benefit Nokia if the games are hard to buy or hard to enjoy. If only the original N-gage had been better received, we might still be getting the new games on MMC cards. Not that there *are* any new games, since all the released titles I'm aware of are just reissued N-gage games that came on cards originally.
Bah, who cares, one week after the release internet will be flooded with RAR's with all the console fullset hacked for playing on a Micro SD.
Nokia is apparently reviewing the EULA to permit transferring to new phones. Claims it was a "misunderstanding", so we can all calm down.
Mine keeps freezing, has data connection issues (which can only be solved by removing the battery and then putting it back in) and everytime I send a SMS theres an error. EDGE is too fucking slow, and dunno why but I cant get OperaMini to run on my unit. The only good thing is the security software, which is vital to prevent coworkers and friends to hack into my unit and see all the midget porn bac0de keeps sending to me. J/k on the last part (he actually sends german scat pr0n) dunno about the upcoming 9000, may check it if the new iPhone sucks too. Maybe if Nokia engineers had done their work instead of just taking a regular cellphone and changing were the joystick was. The first one was, by far, the lousiest attempt at portable gaming since the game.com I'M NOT CALMING DOWN! *shoots random guy in the face*
Which model do you own? We have 20 BB curves at work that I am responsible for and I have only ever had to reset 1 or 2 or them. Also where do you live? How is your coverage? The kind of things you describe are definitely not typical of BB handsets. If you keep having to reset and SMS doesn't work then you have a faulty unit and should get it replaced. They have a 1yr warranty, I believe.
Its a 8800 series, I'm in process of getting a replacement, but dunno if I'm gonna get a curve or (lucky) a 9000. Maybe they'll just give me another 8800... Then again I never used (intensively) a WinMobile device, just PalmOS and BB, but I'm hearing even more crap from users of that platform (like constant slowdowns being "normal" and an overall bad design) so I dont know if I should considerate that platform at all.
