Did you even watch the first 30 mins video? They aren't QTEs it's a prompt for a finishing move. I probably should have ponted that out earlier
A prompt appears on screen to press a certain button within a certain time. That's the exact definition of a QTE. You can call it a "prompt for a finishing move" all you want, but it's still a QTE.
Those may not be mandatory, but I'm sure there'll be at least one boss battle where you have to do a sequence of QTEs to win. "Sequels trying new things" = "Copying shitty ideas from other games"
You know what's even worse than QTEs is how they are now sneaking into our games without even letting you know. The Uncharted games are being hailed as the best games of their respective years, but have you noticed how the platforming aspects are almost QYEs? You just hold in the direction you want to grab onto and press jump. There's no adjustment or estimating distance on our end to make. There's no fucking point, it's impossible to lose. And after that's said and done, there's an in-game movie! The whole fucking series is just watching the game play itself but you have to keep pushing un-pause.
I have a question. What Ninja Gaiden 2/Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 actually good? I played Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox and it was fantastic, at least for its time. But I never played the sequel.
Ninja Gaiden 2 was great but it was different from the first game. The first game gave you more leeway as to where you could go and you could revist some locales as much as you wanted (grinding for exp ext) But in 2 the game followed proper stages.
I've gotten to the VERY end but that last last boss is annoying as hell since you can only attack it with arrows
I beat NG and NG2 (re-boots, also beat the OG ones though). I prefer NG2 because the action is so fluid and it's a bit less annoying by taking out the "exploration" component. I also find it amazing that GoH cannot grasp that this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DipgfPQbwfs is the same thing as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvnCQfR54ZE&feature=related and that both are a downgrade of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7j3OiaT2_k&feature=related But, NG3 has pretty graphics. So I suppose we can all agree that GoH has the brain of a cat and is enamored by sparkly things. Also GoH, did you play NGII on the PS3 or something? Because every video of NG3 that I've seen is way less violent than the 360 version of Ninja Gaiden II. And given this stupid comment: I would've thought you would've been disappointed.
It's almost like you want me to reach through the internet and strangle you. When prompted by the X Button
 That was a good one. I hear you can turn the QTEs off though. But still, it looks like they've taken a step back in terms of combat flow. NGII ran so smooth and perfectly. In terms of combat anyways.
I always thought if a developer wanted to "try something new" they would make a new game... but then GoH would be on the complaining side: "It's just a rip-off of Ninja Gaiden" That being said, I've played about 5 minutes of the Xbox one. Maybe I'll give it another shot since I finally found a TV to borrow and have that console set up.
BTW GoH, there's an obvious QTE at the 3:40 point of this video. A QTE that nobody would call a "prompt for a finishing move".
Well lets reserve judgement until the game ships. Combat looks fluid to me plus they added stealth to the mix. Combat flow may suck or it could rock. It doesn't look any slower to me. Meow I think you misunderstood alot of what I was trying say. and even now...I'm not even sure what it was I was trying to say...I just saw "Brain of a cat" and wanted to start smashing things..... when prompted by the X button, R Trigger and RS
Quick question, but is Irene lew in this one? (I ask because she was recently retconned in do a dimensions with a new hipster-esque look) or are they sticking with Sonia from ng2?
No it doesn't seem they are. I think they named her Irene in Dementions as a joke or something. however the new girl in NG3 looks more like Irene than Sonia the Boobgirl
See, I don't know what to think of the new Team Ninja; granted, Itagaki was probably the worst part of the previous team. No matter what game it appears that Hayashi is talking about, he's always playing defense and has to defend every single decision they're making because no one seems to like them. He's never promoting any of the features, he's always stuck defending them. You'd think he'd get the hint. I'm getting NG3 just for the DOA5 demo, which I know will be terrible, but hopefully NG3 will be all right.
I have a really dumb question: How do you miss somebody at point blank range? Is there something that I'm missing here? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is bad (even though there is no way I could play it). It was just something that I noticed. =hugh
