Just got a very good deal on a Nintendo 3DS. The only problem is that the cartridge slot is damaged somehow. It reads games, but the games don't click, so you have to hold the game in with your hands to actually play it.
Has anybody had this problem? Is there any way of fixing it without replacing the whole cartridge slot?
I will take apart the system when I get the right tools. I have a very poor quality screwdriver and I couldn't unscrew all the screws to take it apart.
Any help would be nice !

A lengthy video is the first result in a Google search.

I already tried google, but honestly I couldn't find anything.
The only thing I could find was a bad quality video with an original DS, which had the same problem. It didn't show how to fix it, it just showed the problem.
If you could give me the link, I would appreciate it.

Just buy a new cartridge slot off ebay and replace it. They don't really cost that much last time I checked. Alternitively you could do things the lazy way and just tape the cart down.

Heres a youtube video of a guy replacing the cartridge slot in case you need some more help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R444yYzuhaA

Thanks, replacing the whole cartridge slot was my last option. Mostly because the shipping will probably take around 3 weeks.
Thanks for the video, but I have already been subscribed to RetroGameTech for months and I have already seen this video. He has an awesome channel.
Anyway, can somebody give me a tip on how to remove stripped screws from the 3DS ?

My old DS had the same problem, I just used sticky tape to hold the cart in place as a temporary fix.

That could work, but I want to sell the 3DS, so I should fix it.
Btw It's firmware version is 3.0.0-6E, so it can accept the Gateway flashcards.
I am willing to trade this for an Everdrive 64 if anybody is interested.

Theres a metal piece inside of the slot that locks the games in that occasionally gets bent inwards (if you have another ds or 3ds you can probably notice it with a flashlight.) If it is broken then you need to replace the whole thing but if your lucky it may not even involve opening the console

I opened up the console and it looks like I'll have no choice but to replace the whole cartridge slot. The spring inside was outside it's original position and it fell out. I really don't think anybody could fix that. It's just too much work, when you could just replace the whole slot for 10 EUR.
