I was wondering is it possible to wire a UltraCIC to a converter or import adapter to make the console region free?

if you switch the back plates of n64 carts they will fit in a us console and play them.
for example if you want to play sin and punishment then you would take the back off of that and replace it with a us back plastic case to fit the mold of the us n64 console.
    *wont play pal games.

A problem is no RGB output. N64 systems are set to NTSC or PAL, the wrong region game may result in color issues.

What, like, integrate it into the adapter? If you then consider that adapter a part of the console, then yes that'd make it region free. Why an UltraCIC though? Just use a Nintendo CIC from whatever region your N64 expects - same effect. Also, afaict you wouldn't be able to boot carts w/ a CICs other than x105 any more.

My recommendation: Be pragmatic and just buy an Everdrive. Runs everything, works everywhere.

This is what it should look like:
    Adapter.png

The concept is pretty much the same as most converter / region / adapter for the N64. Only differents is that a CIC from console region is solder inside the adapter. So no matter what game you put in it will read CIC inside adapter. Making it "region" free. (As many mentioned there are som thing that might be incompatible. But it is always nice to here what might go wrong) I am thinking about to make it for a SNES as well.

The reason i will use UltraCIC is:
    * Switchable region (PAL or NTSC)

Things i do not know about UltraCIC:
    * Is it universal or is it based on some original CIC model?

I am doing this for making a mod of my own that is fairly simple and cheap so i get my feet weet in this modding swamp. Thank you all for replying. =)

Another user in the forums here, Zoinkity, elaborated a bit on making the N64 region free in another thread regarding CICs:
    http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/n64-cic-looking-for-710x-series-info.55237/

    Long story short:
NTSC and PAL consoles use different clock settings and frequency (hardware) that drive the A/V portion inside the RCP (i.e. VClock). The PIF for a specific region only holds the settings for its respective region (and not other regions) in its internal ROM, and that includes the regional video modes if I am not mistaken.

Also running say a NTSC game on PAL (if it boots) can create a messed video signal over S-video and compshite, some AV equipment, framemister, can't handle it and will result in a garbled mess on the TV..

Do you know a reliable store or seller that can I buy the UltraCIC II from? I purchased an everdrive64 before these came pre-installed, and I would like to install one.

Aliexpress seems to be the only one i know of. The seller mentioned is ok. I have bought some from that seller. The only one i can think of that might make UltraCIC II would be Bad_Ad84.

If there is a market, I'll happily make and stock them.

Just never had anyone ask, so not bothered so far.

    Edit:
Could do them cheaper than the aliexpress seller too.

VCC for one and ground for the other. Cant seem to find much info on which is which, but would a test in a console would soon reveal it.
