Hello fellow game enthusiasts and collecters. Today I have a few questions to ask on this weird Nintendo 64 DD that possibly could be some type of Develper/Test Unit. I accuired the unit from a good friend over seas in japan. He sells retro video game online. After new years he contacted me that he found a 64 DD and asked if I was interested while I already had one retail unit I decided to pay for the shipping and have it delivered to me. After playing around with it I noticed that it had no suspissous markings on it. But when you inserted a working retail disk it would give me error 44. It works perfectly with everything but the retail disk. Thinking it might be a read head broken or dirty I opened it up to see the internals only to find it was all working and intact. Is this some weird dev unit that only reads dev carts? Is it a prototype? Did I forgot something, any ideas? I will upload photos of what you request with my name on them when I get home sometime around 3:30 EST 1-22-17
Photos of the front, bottom, what it looks like when powered on with an N64 on top, and any stickers if it has some
Dev kits should have a blue opening where you put the disc. Looks like a normal one to me..the only other one I can think of that was special had stickers plastered all over it (That US prototype)
Error:44 Jumper Pack may be left in n64 control deck Error:01 取り扱い説明書をお読みください。 Please read the instruction manual. N64 disk drive may have been broken down, or Disk may be bad. http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/single/?p=8180118&t=7438580
Open it and try unplugging and replugging the ribbon cable. I noticed mine began to read faster after I did that when installing a socket for the clock battery. I guess the pins can get corroded.
