I have a pretty beat up N64 cosmic wise, and I want to give it a new paintjob.

First of all, what paint would give the N64 a nice gloss and would stick to the plastic?

I also want to add some LEDs, this will be the first time for me adding LEDs too. Which LEDs does the N64 use? I was looking for multi coloured ones, that pulse different colours... Do they exists? Or have i been lied too:confused:
Where can the LEDs be placed?

I think that's all I could think of to modify this system, I've region modded it as well, so cross that off the list.

you could also consider using a PulseVU, you can wire it to pulse leds with audio output

Where abouts can I place the LEDs? I've never placed LEDs on a motherboard before, first time.

start searching capacitors on the MoBo for the one with the necesary votalge, try to use the bigger capacitors to ensure they are for voltage and not for another reason, and thos changing color led exists, and can be putted on any place where you put regular leds (3 volts or so) i've had one on my pc power led since some years.

For paint I like to use Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric spray paint,it comes out nice and it sticks to plastic very well.

It is all discussed there with images for your help...

But you can solder off of the N64 default red LED and yes, multiple coloured LED's do exist. All you need is a 3 or 3.3 volt line really...

As for paint, bunnings will help you. I got krylon fusion paint and it is great. Just be sure to sand the console. The N64 logo comes off, and the stickers do with a heat gun or hair drier. To open the console, use a bic pen or buy a Nintendo game bit...

    HAVE FUN MODDING!
