I just snagged a used N64 from a local gameshop today (along with a few nice games, hee hee..) and was thinking about starting a small N64 collection. I've got my eye on getting a 64DD system and that nifty looking Mario Artist Polygon studio, but I'm not sure where the best (read: most reliable and cheapest) place to pick these up are - should I take my chances with eBay, Gamechoice.com.hk, or is there another place I should look? Yakumo and GaijinPunch (along with any other Japanese natives), is the 64DD very common near where you live? Also, assuming I've done the mod to run Japanese games, would there be any problem of the 64DD running on a NTSC/UC system? Also, does anyone know where the best place to buy import games (mainly Animal Forest, Bangaioh (wishful thinking, I know) an Sin & Punishment) is? Thanks a lot! :drinkers:
I had a link of a site that has Sin and Punishment for $40, to import btw. Lost it somehow but do a google search to find such places. I have a nice collection of N64 games. I suggest you pick up Hey You Pikachu because of the nifty microphone. that ought to be a nice collectible in the future. I also plan on getting the special edition pokemon n64. I have about 13 n64 games.
The 64DD is now impossible to finde where I live but I can get N64 games quite easily. I bought a fair few of Importaku's N64 goodies for him. So if there's someone you should talk to about N64 then he's your man. Yakumo
GSL: I think Nintendomad has the answer to your questions as he's much into the 64DD. Too bad he rarely shows up anymore. (and he owes me money too :axe: )
Hmm let me see if i can help. :smt017 You should have no problem at all plugging a US N64 into a japanese N64DD i just tested the US N64 i have lying around with it and it works fine. As for where to get them from, I found mine on ebay but it cost me quite a lot of money around £400 if i remember correctly but it was mint and fully boxed with some promotional extras plus the original outer shipping box from nintendo plus 7 64DD games. The prices for them vary greatly on ebay, the more 64DD games that come with them the more they seem to cost. But you really are best trying to get a bundle with as many games as possible as some of them are a pain to find on their own. The must have titles would be all 3 mario artist games & fzero expansion kit. Well those are my 4 favourite games out of them all. As for the N64 games your after im pretty sure yakumo culd find them for you I know he has seen Sin & punishment & animal forest a few times but animal forest is quite pricy if you want a new copy with the controller pak, and as for bangaio dont worry its not as rare as people make it out to be i have seen copies on ebay all the time plus im sure yakumo has seen it as well. IF you keep searching on ebay you will find some amazing N64 bargains i managed to get my copy of bangaio off ebay for £24 and it was mint as well so anythings possible. Hope that helps :smt023 Oh and check out my website if you fancy a look at various japanese N64 games i have lots of box scans to browse through
Great, thanks a ton Importaku. I noticed while browsing around online that Gamechoice.com.ck (The Game Choice Club) sells a lot of 64DD related stuff (when they have it in stock that is), have you dealt with them before, and do you think they are worth the hassle?
Yeah, N64 Bangaio is much easier to find than the DC version. I could get you a N64 one today for under 20 pound. Yakumo
1000 I spent 1000 pounds way back in 1999 just to get the 64dd and two games cause I thought it woyuld be impossible to get later cause of randnet and so on but at least I got to use randnet and managed to pick up Japan pro tour golf anf some dev stuff. The best place to get a 64dd is ebay and 400 pounds is an amazing deal for the whole pack, only 15000 of the units exist and there is milllions of nintendo collectors.Better hurry before preices start going back up which I have on very very good authority they are back to the 6,700 pounds range.Go for it 800 dollars for a colactible ois nothing, especially when it's nintendo's greatest collectible and rarity.A great thing that never had it's potential realised but I am sure we will see a mother 3 and proper ura zelda dump roms one day.
I've bought quite a bit of stuff from GameChoice and have never had a problem GreatST. They've been very friendly to deal with as well...sometimes shipping can take a few days longer than expected but acceptable....don't know if you want it but I have an extra copy or two of OOT if you want it....I can send it and you can just pay the shipping...don't think I need 3 extra loose carts. :smt023
