I'm not sure if this is the right forum type, but I got an N64 SDK software, and one of the few applications to work was the multi viewer. Does anyone know how to get the other applications to open? It goes to a command line for more than one second and then it automatically closes. What type of problem is this? Thank you for your answers.
I mean like the Niff, HVQ texedit, the ones that came in the SDK pack. Unless my Windows 8 computer has the N64 Development capabilities (which I'm pretty sure there isn't), I only have the software.
Install win98 on a vm and try from there. They won't run on a Win8 . but you can try your luck with compatibility mode .
The HVQ tools are designed to either be run from the command line or executed through command line options set in the MMV. Same goes for the audio encoders. Some of the sound file tools, despite opening windows, require command line options to be sent in addition to a sound bank file. I'd suggest reading the documentation that came with the tools for the options and use of each. Many are file encoders or introspection tools. If you're trying to use the HVQM encoder, for instance, it would help to know that it's video encoder, what files you should be providing, and what to set the sample rates to if you expect to produce a file anytime in the next week. Also, it happens to create a binary file that can be embedded in a wrapper ROM and sent to the dev unit to 'play' it.
I am also curious if there is anyone out there who could explain how to properly configure the developer environment. I've peeked around and tried to do.... things.. with it to no avail. Anyone want to help?
Okay, sorry it's been a long time. I got a Windows XP professional OS, Dell Latitude D620 computer. I got the virtual machine and Windows 98 VM working. Now all I have to do is add the SDK's to the VM hard drive and I'm all set! I'll edit this post if SDK's STILL isn't working. Edit: STILL not working!
