I'm a bit pissed because I just got my A Link Between Worlds 3DSXL in December.

Otherwise, I'm excited for this. This really seems like the 3DSXL that it should've been in the first place (and more~), but is that grey nub in the upper-right side, in the corner with the B/A/Y/X buttons, supposed to be the second Circle Pad? If so, that's like the shittiest place I could think to put it.

 

Is Nintendo apparently going Sega on us lately?

 

I suppose this one is for the hardcore gamers then...

 

Will there be certain games that require the advanced hardware and second analog nub of the new model? Thats going to suck for us who already have a 3DS. Reminds me of the gameboy color sort of.

 

Silly Nintendo making fans irritated needlessly. If they release more exclusive games for this model there will be hell.

 

Well, Nintendo announced a re-release of Xenoblade Chronicles for the New 3DS. It will only be playable on there.

 

They should've waited for their next major handheld. But there's also a CPU upgrade as well, similar to the Wii's CPU (hence the Xenoblade port). I'm pissed that I keep buying the newest one and they keep making newer ones with actual improvements.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if this was Nintendo's way of silently killing off the old 3DS and any possible exploits along with it. They will more than likely have learned from the old model 3DS, and will make it extremely difficult to use 3DS flashcarts, DS flashcarts though, not sure....

 

Wow. I didn't buy a 3DS yet for a reason, & here it is. Is this the first Gameboy upgrade that will actually be required for some games to run? If so, that's a terrible move on their part. Guess we'll have to wait & see.

 

Wow, I just wasted $200 months ago with my XL and SM3DL... Does somebody want to buy it? The console and the game are CIB, almost new.

I hope that this model really fails (Nintendo should really stop doing this shit).

EDIT: Smealum decided to delay the release of the Homebrew Channel for the 3DS (because of the new model)... I was waiting for a long time, why now?

 

I know how you feel, I just got mine in January.

It is nice that you can use miiverse faster on it since miiverse is so slow on mine.

But that dosen't make up for there being no snes games on 3ds virtual console and having gba games only on wii u virtual console.

 

Exclusive games too. This is going to make owners of the original 3DS very mad. Just like DSi games had features the original or Lite couldn't use.

 

I think this is an awful decision on their part, but it is yet to be seen. I own a black xl so now I am really pissed.

 

Pretty much a typical move for Nintendo though, constantly tinkering with the handheld market.

 

As a developer, I'm not all that happy about it either...

 

Not every new game is going to be only New 3DS exclusive. Only a small number of games I thought were going to be exclusive?

 

Unless Nintendo has made any statements then anything can happen. The dreaded scenario is that this sells so much that companies begin releasing most games for it (or the more important ones), and the 3DS is neglected. The DSi had a few exclusives, but nothing amazing.

 

Not all the 3DS games will be "New 3DS" only, for instance Pokemon because of market penetration. However the big Triple A releases will definitely be "New 3DS" only. Xenoblade is only the beginning I think.

 

"Definitely" has a lot of weight to it, and if the new one doesn't sell enough there would be no reason to make them exclusive. On the other hand if this thing creates lots of revenue Nintendo could do it, but would face possible backlash. Unlikely that fans would let that slide, but unfortunately I have seen consumers fall for other stupid shit.
