    Original Post

I have to give Nintendo credit. They basically said the whole way they were going to stomp ass w/ the DS was to bring in new crowds, and it looks like they've succeeded. I wonder if they can do the same thing w/ the Revolution.

people believed the ds was to be a flop, and at first it looked that way, now look, the ds is dominating, not only in japan but here aswell, nintendo has their act together, and maybe they just might pull it off with the revo

People in the us said it was a flop. That is beacuase americans need SUPER GRAPHICAL x9000000 OVERKILL. Screw the gameplay mind you, but as long as it looks nice...

It amuses me that people still try to call it "The Next Virtual Boy"

Iwata's comments about 3 of the 4 million+ sellers being original games had to be a cock-slap to Sony. Is there any non-sequel on the PSP?

Yup, ports of other games that were previously on the PS2. There were a few original games I wanted. At least I think they were original...

I would compare on the grounds of ORIGINAL LICENSES.

PSP has original games, but they are franchise games.
    GTA, ETC.

Hands down DS has more fresh new games on it. (If you ignore the nintendo licensed stuff)

PSP has yet to have a game to rival the breakthroughs of say, project rub.

Yeah, I gotta say I'm suprised. I thought the PSP was gonna stomp all over the DS, using history as a comparison. I think both machines are pretty sweet, but I think I'm gonna get a DS with my Christmas money.

I was worried for Nintendo before the PSP came out and pretty much all of the magazines were saying that it was going to crush the DS. One of my favorites is from EGM, where they "reveal" that the PSP will be priced under $200, basically saying that the DS is screwed (which is bizarre...I've yet to see a PSP for less than $250).

I bought both and have played the DS a lot more than the PSP. Mario Kart alone is worth it, imo. I don't think I've even picked up my PSP in a month or two, ever since GTA started acting a bit glitchy.

It's the kids in Japan that make the DS what it is. Every other kid I see has a DS !! Only a hand full own PSP. I just wish more of the western games for DS would come out here since most of the titles we have are for kids :( Still, there are some beautiful gems that I'd love to have if I was really in to hand held gaming. For now I'll stick with Bio Hazard Missions on my phone :p

As long as Nintendo can stick with online play and high quality games, then they will continue to dominate the handheld market. Although, I must say: The PSP isn't doing too bad either.

Being a Sega fan boy, I've never been much of a fan of Nintendo stuff (not to say that its bad at all, just never "got into it"), but I'm really happy they're doing well now. They seem to be injecting new life into the gaming industry and as they said they're committed to bringing us original and innovative games and not just "Urban Shooter 5: War Path". Consider me getting a DS soon........ok yes it's for the Sonic games :110: now leave me alone!

with owning both, i can say i play my ds Alot more, still what deosnt help psp is its price and mediocre games really, all capcom is releasing on it is either remakes or ports, though shockingly enough, mega man x remake is going for $30, but why buy that when mega man x collection is coming out the same month in the us for that sam price, amazing huh?

Electroplankton will be published by NOA in January 2006 actually... Available through internet and the Nintendo World Store. ;)

Daigasso will either be announced at E3, or it won't be released in the West at all.

I have to admit that I was dead wrong about the DS. I thought it was just too early for Nintendo to bring out another handheld after the GBA. I figured parents wouldn't spend the cash on one when they just bought a GBA for their kids a year or two earlier. I don't know if it's a testament to Nintendo's marketing department or the ability of kids to wear their parents down.

from what I understand it will be released but under the name Jam with the band, the questions is just when and if there will be any differens in the graphic / music (probably in the music as iirc there were some j-pop music in the game)

I'm anxious to see what kind of connectivity functions the Revolution/DS will have.

I need to get a flash-ram cart for my DS, there appear to be a lot of homebrew apps out there for it, although sadly still no online pictochat.
