That looks pretty cool. Maybe on the heels of Apple going into the phone business, Nintendo might decide to do the same as well...... JK

If anyone could pull off a nice cell phone from a big video game company it would be Nintendo. Though I wonder if they will actually ever go through with it. The fact of owning a Nintendo produced phone would be kewl though. I do love Apple's new phone though...

There's not much point really since nobody here is going to buy a Nintendo only phone when they can buy a top end phone that will play big name games from all the major game companies such as Capcom, Namco, Sega, Konami, Square etc. Sega tried this last year with a Mushi King themed phone. Needless to say it didn't sell very well.

lol true, still the layout looked good and corny fun

Out of curiosity, is there a cellphone with an excellent Tetris gameboy/NES port on it? If not, does anyone know if its possible to emulate gameboy on cellphones now and if so, which model should I pick up for that and any links?

My old nokia 6600 had a NES emulator, as well as mega drive. My current SE k800i has a NES emulator, and possibly more (haven't looked into it)

You guys in the west are lucky having emulators on your phones. We have nice sexy powerful phones but no emulators :(

    its ok:p

emulation software for mobile platforms has been around and it plays stuff just as any usual emulator.

www.my-symbian.com if i recall should be a good resource for all things symbian, including emulators for that software platform.

This pic has been doing the rounds in the office recently.

    WiiPhone.jpg

Looks very similar to the patent but Wii branded.

It would be cool if I could transfer my Wii Virtual Console games to the phone, I have tried emulation on a mobile but from my experience, its not very stable and the controls are awful - There again I dont like the positioning of the D-Pad and buttons on this thing.

And the screen? come on I have a bigger LCD on my old 2MP camera!

Think I'll be sticking with the DS for my train and tube ride into work!

I'd imagine so, just found this:

    http://www.t3.co.uk/news/247/games/gamecube/wii-phone_incoming

It has a bigger version of the pic and the following:

    Wii-phone incoming?

Nintendo’s let slip plans for a gaming phone. Get set to lose even more thumb time to Ninty’s all powerful console.

We thought Nintendo had plans for a VoIP service for Wii several months ago, when we heard murmurs that the Wiimote would come packing a microphone. Now we’ve caught sight of plans for a full-blown Nintendo phone.

Ninty’s plans, made public by the US patent office, show a Mario-toting mobile, complete with gaming keys and dialing buttons.

We’ve no idea if Nintendo plan to release such a device, but given the Wii’s affinity for online services we wouldn’t be surprised to see it act as a home hub for a VoIP service. Maybe this is the handset you’d use to access it?
