Just posted on facebook: Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System arrives on November 10 in Australia and New Zealand with 30 games included! (SRP AU$99.95) https://www.facebook.com/NintendoAU...5708024919671/650287638461706/?type=3&theater
Looks like it is $59.99 in the US w/ a controller and power adapter. https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/14/nintendos-classic-mini-is-a-tiny-nes-with-30-games/
Really cool! Hopefully it will offer save states and scan-line options. Seeing that it's Nintendo we're talking about, I'm a bit scared that the European version will run PAL rom's in 50Hz..... hope I'll be proven wrong on this one.
Big nostalgia fail - they should've included a (dummy) cartridge to blow into (and make games randomly not boot). At least that reset button looks like it works, so remember to hold it down while turning off the machine to not corrupt your saves, guys! I think that's likely. Maybe they'll also downgrade the video - Composite (or even RF) quality for dat 101% retro gudness. The latter would actually be a plus in my book, pixel-perfect NES looks... wrong. Guess we'll see.
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...tion_coming_this_november_ships_with_30_games and another shitload of sources... Point is: why? It's cool small and has hdmi, but it's just gonna be another emulation machine that won't support your carts nor original pads... ?_?
I'm hoping it'll at least have something interesting inside like some sort of new official "famiclone" chip, but yeah, it's most likely going to be an emulator. I wonder if it'll be Nintendo's own VC code or just one of the open-source NES emus.
The only answer, they want to make money from nostalgia. Just look at the Atari Flashback series That or something like a Pi Zero.
http://www.theverge.com/2016/7/14/12187296/nintendo-nes-classic-edition-announced-price-games Notice how it uses Wiimote controller ports? So the NES controller on it will work on Wii + Wii U! That's a huge plus IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if people buy it to use on their Wii. It actually has a surprising amount of really good games, HDMI & save states! Hopefully the controller is long enough. Its target audience is not hardcore "retro" players who collect and still want to play their original carts.
It's small, cute, cheap, has great games and a few modern conveniences. Why not? I mean, the quality will certainly be top notch compared to clones/emulation machines and it's certainly cheaper than to buy a nes with those games where I'm from. Add a wireless controller and the ability to add/buy games and it'd be very nice!
I think their answer to buying more games would be "buy it on the Wii U/3DS!". Nintendo's hardware quality is very good so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm excited to see it when it comes out. Not sure if I'll get it, but we'll find out. I am interested in trying out the controller.
To integrate it with your Nintendo account via Wi-Fi so you can play your nes vc games on it would be great.
I like the looks of it, but I'd rather just use my Nintendo. I almost want to buy it just to sit on a shelf to look at =P
That'd indeed be nice. Also, if VC account integration is possible, Game Boy games might also work at some point down the line (if it's a software emulator and not a famiclone). Maybe others with different controllers with more buttons.
Well, that's what we don't know. It could literally be a rebadged Chinese famiclone or emulation machine, for all we know. I'm probably going to wait till someone does a teardown on one of these before picking one up for myself.
At this point nintendo has made a fundamental change. Today the decline begins; The massive merchandising of subpar products and eventual purchase by Disney.
This, although it does look tempting to purchase, I'm more happy they're coming out with this, as it will decrease the price that people are selling for their carts / Original consoles (hopefully at least). The average price right now is ~100 for a SNES console alone, where I'm at, which is obscenely overpriced. I'm glad this is coming out, and hopefully they make a SNES version as well, which would then drop the SNES console down too. I'm curious to know if an Everdrive flash cart (or any NES game cart) would work inside/ with this?
The guy most knowledgeable about financial stuff at Nintendo took place of Iwata, but he's made some financial choices that seem to be questionable even to those skilled in the field. Times are changing but I'm, watching on the sidelines to see just how far this goes before it backfires Unrelated but has anyone else noticed how bothersome the photoshopping is? It's seriously bugging me.
