rayer: From IGN: http://ds.ign.com/articles/565/565138p1.html?fromint=1 Anyone heard this news anywhere else? I would love to have my DS this Monday as opposed to the Sunday after next (preordered from a local EB) but I don't want to get my hopes up either rayer:
hmm, ive not got a mail from the guys i preordered it from... would be cool if they did let it go early! )
Don`t know where GSL Heavy Industries Ltd ordered mine from Didn`t know Kirby was a release game..or have I missed something
Umm, I'm pretty sure that's a GBA game playing. Unless they ported the already released GBA game to the DS, w/ no extra features and ignoring the xtra screen. :smt042 The DS release date has always been November 15. EBgames has had that date on their site for a while now. Good ol' IGN, always on the ball. :smt043
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/241868.asp Says 'ships on the 20th' there. Where did you see the 15th?
Huh? Im not sure about anyone else on this board, but I've already seen the same DS commercial like 8 times since Monday advertising a release date of the 22nd (or something close to that...bah, wasn't paying attention). Or is that just being aired in Canada..?
Ok, I swear, when I checked Ebgame, it definately said 15th last time. I swear. Super Mario 64 was also listed at the 15th. Their release dates are really screwy. Weird. :smt083
I've seen where a couple of DS games are supposed to be released before the system launch at my EB....
I tried out a demo unit at the EB Games in the mall last night. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with it. It's rather bulky when unfolded, the graphics are near PS1 level with loads of blocky textures, the touchscreen works ok for the Metroid game where you can use the stylus to turn/look but how practical would that be when you're in a moving car or something? The sounds are similar to GBA and the d-pad and buttons seem a bit on the cheap side.
ahh dont tell me that, im leaving for work early to check one out today, hopefully it was just the demo that wasn't completely polished
These have sold out for pre-orders at Ebgames already. Good for Ninty at least. :smt023 I'll buy one, if only to play Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2. Yes, I know they are GBA games. Yes I know I already own them. And yes, I know, I'm a complete sucker. :smt042 When they start making cool games for the touch screen, that'll be when it starts to kick ass. Hopefully that'll happen...
played with it today for a few minutes real quick. the buttons are mad cheap feeling. like not very nice plastic but they feel fine. the screens are pretty nice and sharp. thought about putting down some money but i didn't. the guys, at ebgames, confirmed a release on the 21st. they might get them sooner but wont be selling them till then. gotta find a pic of the origional concept. it is a bit bulky, sp fits easily in my pocket but oh well i'll definately get a ds soon
Okay, here's the scoop: Despite IGN's rumor, the DS is still releasing on the 21st. I find this date rather implausable, as it's a Sunday, and the vast majority of releases here in the US happen on a Tuesday, which would be the 23rd. Otherwise, looks like I'll have mine on Sunday. ^_^ Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is indeed a GBA game, just being played on the DS. Also, a few games are indeed shipping before the system launch - I believe XX/XY, for example, ships the 18th.
I didn't have a chance, as the EB where I ordered yours from was closed when I got off of work - stupid late shift. I'm going back in on Friday to work a shift, so I'll see about switching it then - sorry for the delay.
No problem GSL you are being more than helpful by pre-ordering me one anyway :smt023 If they can`t do XX/XY order of pref would be RAYMAN MR DRILLER ASPHALT URBAN GT THE URBZ As if poss would sooner have 2 games on release and perhaps get T-Woods later Thanks again :smt023
