So, Yasu, of Ys Menu fame has apparently figured out how to run homebrew on the DSi already.

I knew it wouldn't take long, but I wasn't expecting something this quick.

Its short on details in english, but if anybody can read Japanese could do a quick little bit of translating to his website it might have some more details.

Also, gbatemp.net has some more info.

I was going to get a DSi anyway, but this is great news since I'll probably be able to run my favorite homebrew from a SD card someday.

Man they beated my time expectations, too bad we dont know if he was able to run it off the microSD.

In that case the DSi will only make things easier for pirates.

I want to know if the DSi has any extra RAM or a higher clock speed like some speculated it might for those DSi apps like the web browser.

I'll have to find the video, but I did see a youtube video of the DSi web browser.

The web browser is not built into firmware, so you download it to the SD card. Speed seemed a tad bit better than the current DS browser. Loading and rendering still took a bit but it seemed to handle scrolling around the page while images were loading quite well.

That leads me to believe that the processor speed probably got a bit of a boost and it does have more internal memory. Of course, the smoother scrolling could be due to the fact that it just has more memory and doesn't have to go through slot2 to access it.

Knowing nintendo. I 100% bet the processor has not changed at all. There was most likely a ram boost due to the removal of the slot 2 card but most speed boost in the browser can probably be attributed to the extended ram being faster then running over the slot2 bus & slim chance nintendo let them write custom code for the arm7.

The web browser could probly run flash based games made for being run on the ds, I gues you could kind of call it homebrew. Kinda like flash games on the wii :)
