Nintendo fire employee for blog interview

    It would be cool for Nintendo to introduce a Japan import section where Japan Only exclusive games from PC Engine, MSX2, and a few Super Famicom & Famicom ones like Clock Tower, Shin Megami Tensei 1, 2 & If.., Itoi's Bass Fishing No. 1, Monstania, Fire Emblem, the two Kunio-Kun beat 'em up ones, etc..

    You'd know how much money Nintendo would be cakein in if they did that?!

    Probably a fair amount, but there would be a large outlay for translating the games (as the guy mentioned in the podcast). Especially for the dialog/text heavy games like Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, the beat em ups or anything like a shooter could be translated easily (mainly the instructions), but the more text is in a game the longer it takes to translate.

    Smash Bros. and MK64 are horrible examples, as both have versions on the Wii U.

    Also, I said that Nintendo viably had 8-13 more games they could put on there in my post... to which you listed 8-13 games in response to.

    At the end of the day though, the point stands:
    N64 games have only been on the VC for a year or so, and Nintendo has several other VC platforms they are supporting at the same time.
    Most of the main games (that don't have up-to-date versions on the Wii U/remakes on the 3DS) have hit the VC.
    Thus, comparing the number of N64 games on the VC to the number of N64 games on the Xbox One, all of which are featured on a collection of games by a company whose best years were the N64 years, is silly.

    By Christmas Nintendo may have more N64 games on the Wii U VC than the Xbox One, who knows? Who cares? If you want to play N64 games, get a N64.

    A lot of those games are pretty expensive still (MK64 is usually about $30, Smash is climbing, Conker usually costs more than the Xbox version, first party Nintendo games hold their value much more than any other game company on average).

    I mean, I wouldn't mind so much if Nintendo programmed any support for the WiiU controllers in the Wii mode, but they refuse, and playing something like F-Zero X with a classic controller isn't very good.

    I think the issue with the 64 games has to do with the fact that transferring data between wii u pad and wii is tricky and there might synch issues when trying to play a game only on the pad. But honestly I just have a feeling for all the stuff nintendo is trying to do at once they just don't have enough resources to keep things going consistently. For instance all of sega's vc releases are handled by m2 but for nintendo stuff I would have to imagine they do all their vc releases in house. Rare replay all n64 games are using a xbox n64 emulator however 360 code is running for perfect dark banjo tooie and banjo kazooi. Still they did a really good job patching out any nintendo references. It's funny though sometimes 64 games that weren't running on 360 will freeze once in awhile and will keep doing it in the same spot until you completely turn off the system.

    This will not be easy due to rights issues.

    For example, it is very dangerous to ever develop or import certain products into the west because a certain company called Harmony Gold will always stop them and sue them. This includes :

    - Transformers

    If Nintendo ever allows certain Japanese only VC titles in the US EShop, there's a good chance someone could sue them for copright infringement. Too risky so Nintendo wouldn't do it

    hmm.. What if it's a third party company that made the game but left a long time ago or instead ask a company like Banpresto & Chunsoft to bring their titles over even if that type of audience wouldn't like to play visual novels at least it's something different and not your average everyday generic platformer or JRPG.

    It's a security issue, the Wii mode is sandboxed. Currently as it stands, the sandboxed Wii mode is already hacked but since it's seperate from the Wii-U ecosystem, it can't be used to enable "homebrew" on the Wii-U. Allowing the use of the Wii-U controller means the Wii mode can access the Wii-U systems, which is a security risk
