Nintendo Gamecube Development Memory Card Emulator GB-DOT-ME

First time I come across this item, anyone had one in their possession? How does it work and if it works with retail unit?

Probably the programming interface for the Altera chip

 

I got a memory card emulator myself. The purple sticker on mine indicates it's a revision with the model number DOT-005A
I'm curious what model this is. Seems the revision actually has double the storage space.
