There is a Hanshin Tiger's LE GC currently available in the eBay thread in Japan. I am not the seller, just a curious on looker.

I was wondering just how "rare" (if at all) these 2003 units are? In checking on line I have found plenty of images of a Hanshin Tigers GC that appears to have a question mark on the lid. Another has what looks like a champion winners 2003 motif. Were two version made and if so, which is the rarer?

Funnily enough I found a very old thread (2005) elsewhere mentioning that Assembler had a fully boxed edition (the one where you got the shirt, a poster, bag and other accessories). That appears to have been relatively limited. But what of the actual Gamecube? Anyone found any official figures?

Not caring really as to whether it is worth anything as I paid a fraction of the price listed on the one on eBay not realising it was that rare (if at all), just curious as it is a strange looking unit.

The one I have isn't boxed and comes with nothing else other than the official controller (black with what looks like an HT stamped in the middle of it). It's the one with the 2003 motif, so I assume Assemblers words back in 2005 are prophetic as he said "obtaining these units in years to come will be hard as they'll be missing items, such as the shirt, bag..." etc.

I'll buy a player to go with it at some point as I want one anyway. Not got that many GBA titles, but I see them often enough going for a few £ each.

I love my Hanshin Tigers cube, love the design. But mostly cos I support tigers in Japanese baseball!

But the basic rule is that they seem to crop up every now and then but rarely with all the stuff that they were supposed to come with. For example, there was one for sale in Super Potato Osaka a while back that was just the boxed unit, no extras. But the price tag was still pretty steep and described the unit as "complete".

/\ Yeah, I got mine from Barry, he had no probs confirming it was complete and brand new. Great seller, nice chap.

This is an odd one where it is cheaper outside Japan than in Japan. You see Hcore Hanshin tigers fans are a curious breed of Osaka Otaku (known for their obsessive nature) who drive the price up in Japan.

Lordy, I paid £25 unboxed for one. Mind you, it's incomplete as it has no accessories other than the controller and Japanese PSU. It is an odd looking unit, in a quirky way I like it. It still seems like I may still have stumbled on a bit of a bargain then.

Damned thing has turned up with what looks suspiciously like direct sunlight damage. Parts of the case are worse than others, which is odd, but it's not smoke damage. Internally the unit is in mint condition and hardly looks used, but the exterior has yellowing. Not sure if perhaps the plastic dyes were faulty or whatever. Had a look online for other Hanshin Tiger units and they all look minty fresh, so I suspect not!

    Bollocks!

So, I have one, but it looks like I over baked it in the oven! I guess my hunt for LE editions continues. NEXT!

Wow i have never heard of the plastic going funny on a gc, sorry to hear you got unlucky.

If you have access to yahoo auctions theres quite a few limited editions up for grabs at the moment including another hanshin tigers cube, a gundam red cube & a crystal white FFCC cube.

Thanks for that - my funds are currently low thanks to purchasing another PS2 Tool, but I'll be back on the hunt again in the future.

Nevermind, these things happen. It's the only Japanese unit I own so atleast I can now start to obtain some of those crazy ass Jap titles.

Yeah at least you can play japanese games now & theres loads of good ones out & about.

Play asia is a good place to look as they are selling a lot of their gc games really cheap.

I can hear my bank manager clicking his pen as we type! I've noticed he does that whenever I discuss my account with him. :eek:h:
