Just read about it on Kotaku and followed the link to the ebay auction. Seriously, what??? Did any other company make something even remotely similar to this? I've never seen this item before, has Nintendo ever advertised it back in the days outside of hospitals? Still, kudos to them for extending their market and for thinking about the unfortunate kids who cannot hold a controller as a normal person would. side note: Ben Heck did a mod for the xbox controller iirc for one-handed people iirc
I don't think there is anything comparable to Nintendo's Hands-Free controller out there. It sure was amazing they made an effort into such a direction already back in the day. As for controllers made for handycapped people, it hit me that ASCII made a couple of one-handed controllers. They were not exactly made for handycapped people though, they were supposed to enlighten the game experience for RPG players. In one hand they could hold the pad, the other is skimming the guide book or writing down important stuff. This way one didn't have to put away the pad everytime. I know I used to see ads in magazines for one handed controllers for the PS1. I never could see how it would make things easier for anyone. If you want one handed games, just get a Wii!
I had the issue with the ad for the one-handed controler for the PS1 and it said something among the line of it being design for
Whoa crazy, I never thought of that aspect. One-handed controllers open up new dimensions of experience for enthusiastic hentai game fans.
After mastering the highest level of "Transcendental Yoga" on Wii Fit, I can use telekinesis to play without any hands at all.
i was playing street fighte at school and someone wanted to play me, i said sure and it turns out he couldn't move one of his hands or wrist. I felt bad about whooping him, so I went easy. good to let him have fun, or demeaning that i didn't give him the asswhooping i give others?
What if you get a Guru Meditation error then ? ;-) But anyway I used to know a spastic handicapped friend (years ago) his right hand was paralysed , but that didn't stop him from having fun. He could program my arse off the internet if wanted to. And well not just that he played games and could beat me in them. heck, he played guitar, keyboard and what not. so I respect people who uses their handicap as an advantage , and let us just say Lars did that with a brilliance. Sometimes I wonder what he does today. But then again if he ever reads my post here, I hope he knows that I am who I am. Since he was a cool guy.
I have the grip for super famicom and it sure makes playing rpgs and eating a lot easier. No more greasy controller!
There's handicapped controllers for most major systems. Kotaku just digs up 15 year old news from old egm magazines.
