Yesterday I talked with a friend about Nintendo's iQue Player. I don't know much about it. It's a shrinked N64 built into a gamepad and sold exclusivly in china. Does everone know where I can get an IQue outside china and how much does it cost? and do you think it could be a collectors item in a few years? It has been never released outside china and maybe it's getting rare?
Wrong forum?? Anyway the actual machine turns up in quite a few places. Just the games are a bitch to get hold of. You can of course get them in the usual chinese p2p sources. And there is difference to how the game is obtained as they don't exactly have boxes... If you own the N64 originals you can have a clear conscience methinks. If you want one approach a hong kong based dealer or a custom order through some company like play-asia. My advice is not really worth it. N64 is better overall and the games are not in chinese and the build quality is much better. But for collectors go for it, I don't care for it as it is not jp.
Lik-Sang sold them a little while pack...Play-Asia did too...for 120 USD apparently. Neither of them sell it any more, and I wasn't able to find any place else that sells them still...so maybe somebody else can help you there. People will collect anything...so it's already a collector's item...that's the only reason people in the West bought them.
would be interesting how much it really costs in china. I think it's too expensive. but it would be nice to have one, because nobody has an ique ^^
Mines on my shelf and has been since release.... It's an interesting gimmick but nothing I care to use lol.
yes, that's true. But if you are going to china sometimes, you can take it with you an download new games lol
Good point but if and when I do go there I'd have no clue how to do it or what to look for That being said, I'm still going to buy the multiplayer adaptor and 3 controllers, lol.
Yeah, shame all N64 controllers in existence will have limp thumbsticks in a few years ;-) (except for the excellent Horipad which I stupidly sold)
I have a mint purple n64 controller. I'm not going to use it. my other pads are still working fine. the thumbsticks are ok. don't play mario party, it's the death for a n64 gamepad
And to think it was only my controller that went limp. I certainly need to get new ones. I thought maybe unscrewing the thing to try & sort things would help, but nothing!
(This is a bit late as the thread is a month old, but...) In China, the iQue costs 8-900 RMB, which is 100-110 US$. Suffice to say, it hasn't sold well. In fact, the only console that really does any business are the many versions of the GameBoy, since good-quality pirated GBA carts cost as little as US$3. Very few people have PS2, but pirated games are fairly easy to find for US$1. PC is much more popular, and both pirated and legit games are common. Most companies release "China versions" of their games for much less - Half Life 2, for instance, costs under US$10. The pirated discs will run you under US1 per disc. If you want cool China systems, the "dragon" GBASP is also pretty hip.
I've no idea if this works, but CrazyNation has worked out how to put your own games onto an IQue cart. It would be cool to have an IQue with english versions of Mario, Zeldas, MarioKart and Pilotwings. Oh, and Sin & Punishment.
I think it's just a way to backup and restore your data from the iQue memory card. the data on the card is encrypted. I don't think that you can upload a n64 game. and as far as I know the encryption has not been cracked - otherwise they would have released the ique games as roms.
http://www.ique.com/ The 50% Nintendo owned Ique company has now released the DS in China as well as the GBA micro. The Ique player games now come in boxes too, check out the link on the homepage to the released Smash bros. Contrary to popular belief, for a china based console and a chinese games manafacturer, the I que player has done so well that it has encouraged the Ique company to release 3 different peices of hardware on the back of it's success. The console is still widely available in China, so no it is not a collectors item.
http://ds.ique.com/news050817.htm This 7 up Ique DS(the branding on the console even has Ique as it is a 50-50 venture between Nintendo and Ique, is one of the rarest DS limited editions yet.Belief me it is near impossible to get.I am really surprised that more members have not followed the success of the Ique company, maybe it's one for Nintendo nuts like me and Importaku.
Correct, the ique protection has not been cracked yet to my knowledge anyway.I would be interested if someone would post a link if it has.
