Looks like Nintendo teamed up with a sewing machine company back in the day. You use the Raku Raku software with the GameBoy, connect it to the sewing machine, then produce the designs. Pretty cool stuff. Enjoy!
This is AWESOME! My wife loves to sew. If they had a 3ds or Sony ngp version I could justify getting a handheld finally! Nintendo sure had some strange stuff over the years.
Ohhh man! I thought I'd never actually see one of those haha! Awesome! How did you get your hands on one of those? Where they popular at all in Japan?
I remember there being mention of this on the roarvgm site. Never heard of it since. Great to have some decent photos.
That is a Singer Izek, just under a different name. They were the cheapest way of getting a sorta-embroidery-capable sewing machine in those days. Under 500US$ new iirc, complete with gameboy and stitching-software card. The price dropped pretty quick under 400$, nowadays they are a bit hard to find, but not impossible. Haha.. Japan-Games always has cool stuff like this But ppl will seriously start to doubt my sanity should i add a sewing machine to my collection.
Why? That thing is cooler than the gameboy printer, that's for sure Plus: You don't need obscure stock of thermo-paper, you can use this with any thread and fabric ^^ Think of the possibilities - creating cloth nametags for holiday presents for example! And your chances of finding another one of these MIB is quite close to zilch.
I saw pictures of the Singer Izek a long time ago, but nothing as clear as these. Thanks for sharing.
this was featured on kotaku earlier in the week other then making small Nintendo themed embroidery this machine is useless when hooked to a game boy much better as a plane old sewing machine
The Izek is cool especially to find one in such mint condition but this ones cooler as the gba actually sits in it. I have yet to ever see this one for sale anywhere. Heres the pics i took from my spaceworls 2001 brochure.
Yes, this is true. I've seen them a few times. Not sure of the value for a Japanese Jaguar branded one though. Yakumo
That is really neat. I've always hoped to find one of those. You better sew something super nice with it:thumbsup:.
Yeah, remember when this came out. And sure thing, the swissle sewing machines are the best ever
