Why would you think that? Actually, yes, they do really lose money. Most of the time they lose even when they say the make money. But, you have to lose fiscally -- you have to claim your purchases in one year, and your losses in one year. You can legally move it around a bit, but not as much as some companies do.
Gimmicks sell for the younger "gamers", and that's Nintendo's market... sadly. Still their Super Mario titles are not that bad today, not as good as the nostalgic ones but hey, at least they haven't fucked it up completely yet.
Doesn't the WiiU has games in development that has come out months ago? Like Batman: Arkham City & Battlefield 3?
