In an interesting PR move, Nintendo has chosen to unveil some of the Wii's big secrets to the American public via high circulation, well-respected news weekly Time. You can see the cover for the issue right here. The issue goes on sale on Wednesday of this week, handily enough - one day after Nintendo's pre-E3 Wii show-and-tell.

Details from the article have been leaking out via Lexis-Nexis. The article contains playable details for a new Wario Ware Wii, a tennis game, and Zelda: Twilight Princess Wii-control specific details, and has the following to say about the Wii experience: "It's a remarkable experience. Instead of passively playing the games, with the new controller you physically perform them... The sense of immersion--the illusion that you, personally, are projected into the game world--is powerful. And there's an instant party atmosphere in the room."

WarioWare is described by Time as, "Manic five-second mini games ... [with] a zany, cartoonish, game-show bent," all controlled with the Wiimote. So now we'll get to swat flies, catch fish, colour in shapes and pick our noses in very much the same way we do in real life (err, not sure about that last one - Ed).

Of course, SPOnG will be at the Nintendo press conference tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, and thousands will get their sweaty palms on Wii remotes starting Wednesday, so full details are only a day away.

Placing this kind of exclusive coverage in Time is a genius move on Nintendo's part, and it's a clear statement of intent showing that it really does mean it when it says it wants to start attracting casual and non-traditional gamers.

For the hardcore fanboys, there are also details on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which - though still on GameCube - is also to feature Wiimote-specific functionality. Swordfight, anyone? Or a spot of fishing, perhaps? Again, this is a deliberate move to make the game more attractive to non-fanboys, who will all have Wii's by the time the game is finally released anyway. (Snigger, etc.).
