I'm sure Nintendo will change it and not keep the current name, Revolution, simply because reviewers will pick on that name for reference. They will critic each game to see if its "revolutionary" or not.

They might change the name to La Resistance'.

What a disappointment. Even the logo is just some sort of evolved version of the current GC logo...

  13. Well, I assume Nintendo figures that post people will drop the "Go" part and just refer to the system as "Nintendo" as we once did with their older systems when we were kids. From a marketing perspective, it's probably a good idea for them, getting back to a more recognizable brand name. It's the same thing Sony's been doing with the Playstation all along. And it's what's always done in more mainstream electronics markets as video games are more and more becoming.

And as has been pointed out "go" is 5 in Japanese, so it makes a lot of sense for the Japanese release. I wonder if they would change it for the Western markets, though? Game companies haven't done that with their systems in a long time.

If you notice that logo is for the online service, talks about emulation

  15. Deep inside the secret Nintendo testing labs... The final touches are put on the Nintendo Go as it prepares to ship.

Erm actualy the original code name was Iris. Then the system evolved into a 2 screen unit & touch pannel. From this point on the code name changed to Nitro. The final release name is DS. DS did not come before nitro.

To this day I still kick my self for not hiding the Iris boards at work. I dout nintendo would have gone crazy to get them back (still have a working gba ts1 board in the office).

Also refering to someone else. The n64 was code name Project Reality (kind of why the co processors are called RSP/RDP). Ultra 64 was supost to be the original name. Twards the end they droped the Ultra and just called it Nintendo 64.

Nintendo GO+DS... The fanboys have been right all along, Nintendo is God.

I liked Revolution better, but the name is really the least important thing for a console, so GO is just fine. Won't change the fact that I'll be buying one.

I like that. ^_^ Color me fanboy!
I like Revolution better too, but I keep telling myself it could have been worse (Like Gamecube).

I'm also very pleased with the TG16 roms. Last week, I was telling my friends about how awesome it would be if there were TG16 roms on the GO. Then I laughed and said it'd never happen. I did a happy jig today when I learned there would be. I'm psychic!
