rayer: I have a Nintendo-Sharp TV that I found in a Goodwill store. It works fine. It is a combination 19"TV and Nintendo 8-Bit entertainment system. ASSEMBLER is the only site that I found to memtion it. Anybody care to guess what its worth? I might try to sell it on eBay. Thanks, Ram-Dogs.
Nice find! I'm sure other places other than here are bound to have more info, though. If it's in good condition, I'm guessing it'd fetch at least a couple hundred. Did it have the cart that it came with? Sharp was just bad at marketing this thing. I actually saw one of these back in the day, in a Sears Outlet I think. The fact that it could play Nintendo games was only a minor bulleted feature on the box, like 'wireless remote'. I remember trying to convince my parents that it had a Nintendo inside, and to buy it for me, and failing on both counts.

I'd really like to get my hands on one of those Sharp Super Famicom TV's that came out in Japan. One 1991 issue of EGM had a preview of it and damn, that was a sexy TV.
Yeah - wasn't till this decade that I got a TV of my own that had something besides RF in, and wasn't made in Korea. And Sharp would have needed to get the PPU from the PlayChoice-10 or VS system if they wanted RGB out, IIRC.
Yeah but come on! The Atari 800, Apple ][, Master System etc all had RGB, as did all arcade machines. It's not like it was anything new in 83 when the Famicom was released, or 85 for the NES.
Yeah, but if I recall correctly the way the NES handles palettes (in a pretty analog fashion, if I remember right) makes it particularly unsuitable to RGB. I suppose that's why NES games in RGB can look off-colour compared to their real counterparts.
Yeah the palette *IS* NTSC based. Even so, Japanese Sharp FC TVs had a RGB PPU, and used it. I don't think the US one is different.
I recently just bought one of these NES TV combos, for, get this 3 bucks. However, the flip that covers the game is broken off and the NES system dooesnt seem to work, just get a grey screen. im thinkin i could get a replacement kit, but id like to sell it eventually. what u guys think?
Clean the NES part of the TV or clean the games, or try a different game, because I don't think that there is any kind of replacement for the NES part of it. If you can get it working, i suppose it's worth selling, otherwise most of its appeal goes out the window.
Like $99-200 maybe. the shipping is a killer.Personally I feel undervalued. The front flip always breaks on them. You can open it if you are brave and put in a new 72 unit. If it's broken, it's easy to fix.
Easy to fix if it's the pin connector...which often is the problem...but a bad pin connector is often paired with a flashing screen, not a grey one... Edit: Even if your 72 Pin connector is really bad, you'd probably be able to get some games to work...or something to come up. It's damn near impossible to get an NES to stop working totally. They'll become a finicky pain in the ass, but a patient person can usually get them working.
alright i took it all apart, and to my suprise it was extremely easy. i cleane the game and the pin connector and wallah. it works. as it is an old tv it seems to need to warm up also. theres a black part on the bottom of the screen. after a while it goes away and the colors get better. except it looks like it got near a magnet cuz theres some darker color marks on it. but it does work and is playable. does anyone else have any more info on these babies? seems impossible to finda nything. thanks
Yay! Lucky you! Information is going to be slim pickings though, as the most commonly referred to page for this item is Assembler's. I think that page covers it pretty well. Theres not that much more to know about it--You might be interested to know that there are specially colored controllers to go with that TV though. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Edit: Hey, I'm glad you got your TV fixed, but be careful! Remember, TV tubes tend to hold large amounts of electricity even when they're turned off and unplugged. Also, I've seen the Sharp NES TV controllers on Digitpress.com If you want to see them, search their forum and you'll probably find them. For some reason the site isn't working for me...and I'm going to bed
Alright Ive decided im just going to sell it as is on EBay. If I sell it for anything Ill make money since I only paid 3 bucks but heres the link anyway. Edit: use the ebay thread for ebay links!
Hey, isn't the game that came with this one of the rarest Famicom games? A special edition Donkeykong jr. math or something?
