Does anyone know if it's possible to modify a Nintendo 64 controller to get it to look like the 1995 Ultra 64 prototype controller?

I already have painted it the same color, however, I would need to know if it's possible to modify the joystick and make a spot for the decal instead of the Nintendo logo.

Why? Are you trying to pass off another fake prototype?

It's more trouble than it's worth. The stick is different, too. And you don't want to paint the controller. And the black one has a different button layout.

No need to be rude. I just liked the earlier design.

Nobody's being rude. You trolled the forum. Mud sticks. Asking how you could go about reproducing a prototype item will raise eyebrows as you have given yourself a reputation.

How would you think I am making a fake prototype troll I get that I did it once but I'm not. If I was, i wouldn't have posted this thread here. Besides, i've learnt my lesson. It was a mistake that i shouldn't have done.

is it at all possible some employee or event person owns this "ultra 64" console and controller? I don't really know much of it's history aside from that these were shown off to promote the early designs of the system.

Yes there is a strong chance that people own said controller. Now whether they'll sell it...
The bigger concave thumbstick would have been far better in the end. I'll look past octagonal analog but circular would be fantastic.

I'd imagine that the proto controller would feel much better. I don't know why they changed it to the 'octagonal' one though.

I'd love to have one too. But they're far too hard to get.
They also don't use a normal N64 controller connector hence why I want to make my own.

I'm sure with assemblers photos, some mockup scales can be made and 3D printed.

I was also thinking about making a repro for myself, but there are many differences to the retail controllers: The c-button layout is different, the d-pad area is different, the stick is completely different, the z and shoulder buttons are different, the handles are longer and a bit more pointed. Also the logo is no decal but a batch like on the front of the console with a different shape.

Overall the Ultra 64 controller is more beautiful with a way better 6-button layout than the retail one IMO. I would love the idea of making a repro with a clear black shell so everyone could clearly see that it is a repro..

Can't say it's better just by looking at it.
