They're all mock-ups from the Nintendo's media department. Totally genuine photos. The consoles don't work.

I have one or two around, the chips are different. I will have to look for it.

One still has an acclaim game locked to it.

Ha! nice one, that's my console! I've done a lot of scouring on this item and it is a hard one to confirm where it really came from.
There is a old thread here at assemblers about another and at first it was thought to be the first ones playable at spaceworld '95 prior to its release. After scouring the net for videos and images of the spaceworld '95 show I found a pic that showed the demo kiosks and there were none of those extra stickers on the consoles so unfortunately I think we can scrap that theory. I do however agree with you that no working n64 console ever had a ultra 64 badge, by that time they had to Fitch the ultra 64 name, any photos on Google images of ultra 64 consoles do not look to be actual physical systems but more artist renditions or photoshoped. So I ended up asking the fine folks on the micro 64 Facebook page and the only response was from Martin from nesworld and he believed that they are possibly for developers and guessed it's marked "dev" because it was modded by Kyoto Microcomputer Co. for use with the Partner64. They had been known to modify retail units to be used with the partner64.
I'm still waiting for my n64 driver tip to arrive from China (it's been close to two months now) to see if there are any signs of modifications. If you have your own I would suggest opening that sucker up and checking it out for yourself.
I forgot to mention that tI'm guessing it's marked "dev" because it was modded by Kyoto Microcomputer Co. for use with the Partner64? They modified retail units to be used with the partner64. The serial number in my one in the picture you posted is way earlier that anything I can find on the console serial number guide which is promising that it's not a regular console with some dodgy stickers slapped on and a number engraved on the side! Can you post the serial number from yours for comparison?
If anyone has any more info and correct me if I'm wrong in any way I would be very grateful!

It took me so long to write my previous post you snuck in before me, I'd be very interested to see yours for comparison, I'm surprised on how little is known about these.

It doesn't seem to unusual to me. I have systems from sony and sega and they are similar, early chips, different chips.

Nintendo tends to do most of their revisions before making consoles, so it's unusual I suppose for Nintendo.
