Found this and noticed there is no FCC stamp on the side. Nothing else looks different from the retail version. It also looks like a legit Nintendo product. Does anyone know the story behind these?

Well your wiimote is an RVL 003 and after a quick google search it appears to be a normal retail wiimote model number.

Can usually tell a bootleg by the player number LEDs. They're not as diffused as original.

I got my wii in January of 2007 and the included Wiimote does not have an FCC stamp.
The remote that came with wii play, purchased in mid 2007, does have an FCC stamp.

The buttons are also a little different. Without looking, I can tell the bundled remote apart from another remote by the clickiness of the buttons.

There were a few different versions of the wrist strap, too. Does this remote have a clasp on the strap? They didn't start using those until ~1 year after the wii's release.

@ OP: That's a Japanese Wii remote. And it's legit. Just not intended for your region hence the different sticker, no FCC notice.
