That effect is called a checkerboard pattern. The cause can be a bad quality S_Video cable. Try to find a better cable and see if the image is better.

I found the problem was indeed the case in the cable thanks Drakaris I learned it from you that such a checkerboard pattern. Decided by four thin wire + shield s-video cable. Luma 7, Chrome 9 + ALL GND 2 wire + shilden GND s-video connect to 5, 6 and 12 wii GND av port . Problem with the 4 wire s-video + shield It solves all problems checkerboard pattern!!!
