http://www.destructoid.com/tatsumi-kimishima-named-president-of-nintendo-310672.phtml let us discuss. Or you discuss while I watch because we all know where a discussion about Nintendo that I'm involved in inevitably goes.
He was NoA's president during the Gamecube era. I don't know what to think and to say about this choice. But I was surprised to see someone a bit older. I think he will only stay while they prepare their next CEO who will be someone younger.
Well, he was right. The Wii had me interested but the Wii U? I couldn't care less about it. To a none hardcore Nintendo fan it just screamed gimmick and desperate move to get a new console out.
My reaction to the new president of Nintendo. (And yes this is him, and he fits my reaction perfectly)
You never know, he might be very good now. He might listen more to fans, he might try and work as hard as Iwata. I won't judge yet, all I wish him is good luck.
I completely agree with you, but the fact that he's quite old, gives me a reason to worry. The Wii U will never succeed, but this guy might make the NX a real competitor to Microsoft and Sony.
Satoru Iwata's passing was nothing short of tragic, but hopefully under this new management, Nintendo will improve, since Iwata seemed to be one party greatly responsible for Nintendo's blunders in the past decade or so.
He seems to be heavier on the business side, which I find a good thing. He'll let the creative types do their thing and he'll mind the numbers and productivity. Let's hope everything works out smoothly.
Which is a shame, because Splatoon and Mario Maker are two of the best/most creative games of this generation (and both rely heavily on the "gimmick" controller). Almost feels like the Dreamcast all over again... As for the president, he looks like a Koopa Troopa.
What's so creative about Mario Maker? Games that allow you to create your own levels/games have been around forever. Even the original LittleBigPlanet, which wasn't exactly a trailblazer in this regard, came out 7-8 years ago. Hell, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 came with a completely free level editor 17 years ago...
I agree. The Wii U has some really great games and the gamepad is a unique feature as well. It's a shame that 3rd party support almost doesn't exist anymore for the Wii U. You couldn't say the same about the Dreamcast.
The implementation (e.g. 100 Mario Challenge which unlocks costumes, connectivity with Miiverse, use of the gamepad for level editing). I mean, Penguin Land on the Master System had a level editor, and Sonic the Hedgehog had a code for placing enemies in the level too. It's not the fact that it's a level editor, it's the entire package that I find unique.
