ya, apprently it has been in e3's handbook for years *shrugs* news to me /me calls Sony to cancel the stripers
Oh, good. I think this is a step forward for the industry. Maybe now i can actually get some work done at E3... Right... On a less sarcastic note, the only thing i see in the handbook is "no bathingsuit bottoms". That leaves a lot of grey area. And what's the penalty? Is the ESA going to kick sony out of the expo? Somehow i doubt it.
Like I said befor it has always been in the handbook, but never enforced. If im not mistaken the penalty is roughly $5000 USD I but to be hounest it is abit of a step forward, E3 is a gaming expo not who can snag the best looking local strippers. /me calls in for bikin top stripers for Sony
Finally they are taking the industry seriously. No more pimply faced gamestop clerks taking up the line wanting to try something new with the press just way at the back of the line waiting for their turn. No more idiots and no more people who don't work in the industry! Hooray!
I agree that this is a step in the right direction. However, this rule has been unenforced for years, so it is hard to guess how far they will enforce it this year. I have always thought that the "booth babes" were an insult to anyone who tried to take the industry seriously. Now having said that, it's unfortunate but most trade shows resort to this kind of "ooh, it's a half naked woman, I should buy that product" mentality. If you want eye candy, go to a strip club or the internet.
Um, why exactly are you upset that there are no Booth babes this year? All sluts in skanky cosplay. Does that turn you on or something?
WEll there will be "booth babes" but their dress code will be much more strict. All the models are paid, and are professional models.
It won't get more serious. It's still going to be the same lame G4 fanboy paradise it's become. E3 is not going to become serious ever again, unless gaming goes back to the days when it wasn't so "mainstream." YAY! Booth babes! Thank God, I was worried. They are. They just have sex on screen. ;-)
Thats all it is, eye candy. I guess the shows are getting more mature, which is a good thing for the industry.
It's nice to see the E3 growing up a little bit and taking itself seriously. It's a trade show; it's supposed to dazzle attendees from the press with all the lights and sounds, but I fail to see what parading scantily-clad plastic women around has to do with the exhibition of new games and gaming technology. Hell, if I wanted to see a display like that, I'd just save my $300 and spend the day sitting across from the Victoria's Secret in the mall. Except I hate Victoria's Secret and its skanky models, so I probably wouldn't sit anywhere near it. So nevermind.
Amen. i can't say more, it would be too much off-topic, but that's one thing i really hate about "the gaming scene"
You and me both buddy. I don't like how it's becoming mainstream as well, but I have to deal with it...
I seriously doubt the girls will be sporting three piece suits at TGS and other gaming trade shows so that throws the whole "growing and maturing as an industry" idea right out the window. It's not like this is strictly a game industry idea either.
