I got up early, had a quick breakfast and rushed to get to the local Toys R Us right before they open to grab my Mega Yarn Yoshi. When I pulled in the place was a ghost town and I figured everything would be smooth sailing. As I walked into the store im greeted with "if you came for a Yoshi they're all sold out!" They had a look on their face like they got pleasure from telling me that lol. I ask how that happened since the store just opened and no one was there and you know what they told me?? "We had a crowd of people camping out since last night. Manager felt bad and opened the store for them an hour early. They already bought them all" I mean, people got there before me and I'm not mad at them for that because that's my fault, but what pissed me off was I heard the manager let people buy more than 1. Damn scalpers and eBay scumbags for sure. YEP....just as i thought Oh well, I hear in 2 weeks they will be restocked. (Just a rumor though) Just have to wait and see. AND to add to my frustration I missed the pre order for the mega man legacy collectors edition. It was in stock all day yesterday and thought I was good, and then this morning it's unavailable!! I need to learn my lesson already with preorders for certain things like that. Hopefully they reopen preorders. If anyone see it please let me know!
It was a big shit storm at that toys r us this morning.. Just telling my story in the off topic section, no need to get crazy about it. Anyway, I'm possibly about to update this post with a happy ending. I'll limit the Amiibo posts just for you from now on.
Update: I got one! I met a guy who bought 3 of them and through talking and showing him my collection and seeing that we both had the Amiibo thing in common he agreed to sell it to me for retail price. So I feel better now. Don't mess with my amiibos, bro.
No need to worry, Nintendo never throws out the molds and always does a re-release. Nothing bought at the retail level is limited. This reminds me of cabbage patch kids and the beanie babies, etc.
Yeah I was talking about the fabricated shortages of the cabbage patch kids with my friend earlier. For sure more will be coming, because they sell like hot cakes.
I hate amiibos and this bs fake rarity nonsense, reminds me of the families that control diamond trade.
I know the feeling. Don't worry about above comments, life is so short you buy what makes you happy... we need a thumbs up emoticon though.. damn it.
Yeah it gave me Vietnam flash backs of 2006 when the PS3 was released.. I waited in the cold outside the San Diego Sony store for almost 2 days and didn't get one. I didn't wait like that for the Yoshi, but just made me feel down like that. Luckily I found one from a very very generous person.
I ended up getting one from a nice lady whose husband bought 3 for the standard retail price of $40. Randomly found them on Instagram. Instagram can be handy. only $16 in Japan huh? That's crazy
Husband is probably pissed that his wife sold one of them at retail price. No one buys three Amiibos without the intent of scalping them. Yeah, the Amiibo situation in Japan is a lot less shithouse-rat-crazy than it is outside Japan. Hell, in general! I was able to pick up the Majora's Mask edition 3DS without a reservation or anything. I just walked in in the afternoon and bought one.
Want know exactly why? The west worship Nintendo products like currency. Snap up pre-orders list them on ebay for $50+ than retail price, and better yet idiots pay for it still. In all outright honesty, it's what made me dislike the gaming market. Like when the PS4 released, people bought more than one or if they bought one just got one for the sake of saying "I have one". Without a single game to play on it.
I would never pay scalpers for something that you could get at regular price if you just waited. Much like the PS3 launch, once supply settles, all the people speculating gets burned hard.
The Amiibo black market is just a myth. They are not on the deep web. They do not ship 24/7 from a remote stretch of the Pacific. They do not accept Bitcoin. That delivery truck that disappeared in Missouri was just an old bread truck that had inconveniently wheeled itself onto a busy stretch of road. ...Know why there are 2 i's in amiibo? Let's do the math: amiibo backwards is obiima The letter 'i' is a vowel sound, there are 2 in all Exactly 2 vowel sounds before 'i' is the darling vowel sound 'a' ii = a amiibo=obama Is this coincidence? Or does Nintendo know we are all asleep? ( <o| ) Learn more at: amiibo.illuminati.whitehouse.gov
