Very very nice!! I used to have the FS-A1. Only ever had two games though, Akumajo Dracula and King Kong 2, although they both have a special deluxe place in my heart :D

I'm bidding on a copy of Snatcher right now, thinking if I win I might go ahead and get another FS-A1. I've been reading about using a floppy drive emu (that uses usb flash) for the external fdd, does anyone know if this only works on machines that already had built in fdd? or will it work on a plain old A1? IF not I think plan B will to just get a machine with one internal and go from there...

A1 has no floppy. A1F is the one which had floppy.

Both are great machines ! I love Panasonic/National (Matsushita) MSX computers ! ;)

My first MSX was an FS-A1F that I picked up off of Yahoo Japan. I eventually sold that off for stupid reasons a few years back, then I went and picked up a boxed FS-A1 not long afterwards. The FS-A1 was a nice little system but I wanted something a little better, so recently I sold it and put the money towards an MSX2+.

So right now I have a Sony HB-F1XDJ, which is a real nice step up from the FS-A1. Not only does it have MSX-MUSIC but I discovered that it worked great unmodified with my SD Floppy Emulator, so I use that instead of the actual floppy drive. I recently modded it for S-video (it has the CXA1145 which makes it stupidly easy to do an S-video mod) and I eventually plan to upgrade it to 256K of RAM. I have a MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD and not being able to use FAT16 partitions with it is a real PITA, so the sooner I get it upgraded the better.

I might think about getting a Turbo-R if the price is right and I have the money for it, but I'm quite pleased with what I have so it's not a real priority.

The MSX looks like a really cool machine. I'm looking forward to playing the Saturn Collection I just bought. I'd love play more of the games, but there's no realistic option beyond emulation. Question: does it use a 1-button joystick like all the Euro computers? I hope not because that always sucks.

    Beautiful computer.

But hey, you're on the Netherlands, you could get an awesome NMS-8280. (MSX2 with built in video digitizer)

Only MSX2 computer that beats that is the JVC HC-90/95.

Sadly the NMS-8280 costs a pretty buck (euros)... Exactly because it has a video digitizer built in.

Well, I certainly care quite a bit about the MSX and it's one of my major ongoing hobbies! : ) I even run a website (although not updated terribly often) that's main focus is getting an American MSX Scene started called simply USAMSX.com. I own 2 MSX computers, a Panasonic FS-A1GT Turbo R and a limited run of a Korean made 1-Chip MSX called the Zemmix Neo.

We've been doing a exhibit for the last two years right here at he Altanta Vintage Computer Festival. Here are some pictures from this years exhibit back in April:

only MSX2+ I'd want would be the one with built-in printer aka MSX2+ wapro :p
in my earlier life I even got my graphic editor I wrote in BASIC for MSX in one of magazines... sometime in 80s?
