HI All! Just thought that now i am able to post i would say hi and introduce myself! Have been watching/reading the forums for a little while now and must admit i am becoming hooked :nod: Have owned a number of consoles and game systems over the years but never really concentrated on the development side of them until more recently when i have been looking for that little bit extra to get involved with. My first experiece of a Dev Unit was while i was doing some Market Research work for a friends Uncle and was asked ot test and review the new relase of Fifa 2000 on the PS1 (PSX)...sat thereupon the table were 3x Green (what i now know to be Debug) PS1's... :love: this was my first reaction before i even knew what they did! lol After play testing the game and giving my views and comparing to others released at the time, i spent the next 1 1/2 hours chatting with one of the Dev guys about the ins and outs of the (new to me) Green PSX.... Sad to say he wouldent let me have one! since then ihave gone through numerous next gen conoles but keep finding myself drawn back to the Green PSX... i know its only a Debug station and that the real work was carried out on the Dev PC units, but i am hoping to acquire a debug unit soon and fingers crossed and hoping to sort a PC unit if i can ever find one and get stuck in.... Well all I can say is that "the same dog bit me" and welcome! You're in the right place and you should check out the PSx thread. I'm sure you don't need me pointing this out, but you never know. One of the posters on here has a site dedicated to the PS1, which can be found here: http://www.playstationmuseum.com/ As for the various PSx variants you can get some pretty good information just doing a wiki search: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation If you are wanting to develop any basic / homebrew PSx titles then you are looking at the black cased Net Yaroze. If you are a collector then sure, the debugging stations are really good looking systems. You can post wanted ads in the relevant thread and any current site users might be able to furnish you with a specific system. BTW, I am no expert and just saying a friendly hello! I was a "noob" recently and I guess I am on about the first rung of the ladder so know what it's like getting here and having eyes like dinner plates when you see other peoples collections and not wanting to ask anything just in case you think there will be gales of laughter. Just wade in there a get started. ;-) If they start laughing, they just forget they were once where you are now.
Cheers for the welcome guys, Its much appreciated. I was bidding on the blue Debug System that was on Ebay UK earlier but basically ran out of funds.. especially as it hit £102 final price! Already genned up on the Wikipedia Info and can you divulge who the creator of PSXMuseum is? Been reading through that site and its really informative.. whoever you are, Pat on the back! I saw teh Yaroze on Ebay also, but thought i would start with a debug system as im also getting into collcting hte PSX specific items now aswell.. but i woul dlike ot move onto the Dev side of things for the PSX especially but am also interestesed in other systems as they appear (Katana ) Cheers Lee
