My son wanted to call Santa on a mobile 'phone as he had a last minute addition to his Christmas list. Sadly, I couldn't get through <to my mates old number> and therefore it looks like the little fella will have to come to terms with not getting everything he wants.

It's Christmas now here in Japan but it seems just like an ordinary day (Like every year). Wife's at work, baby is at nursery school and I'm slouching around at home because I'm not going to work Christmas day

How do they celebrate Christmas in Japan? Is it as big a deal as in the West? What's the main religion there? I'm guessing there aren't many Christians, anyway!

Japanese traditional religion is Shinto, and there is a mix of Buddhism in there as well, but most Japanese I've encountered are generally non-religious. I know a few who are "spiritual" and believe in something. And I've met a handful of Jehovah's Witnesses actually. But otherwise, non-religious.

Christmas as a secular holiday is celebrated here. Lights, trees, Santa, insane shopping and sales...but other than that, regular day. Yesterday they had already started putting up Valentine's decorations in Utsunomiya o_O

Santa has it rough....I had to set up just 1 HDTV last night.....he has to set up millions.

There's something wrong with that map though in THEORY wouldn't Santa skip Arab nations and the countreis who demonize and kill people for celebrating Christmas?

I would logically speaking think Santa Only hits North and South America, most of Europe, Russia, parts of South east Asia and Australia. and Maybe South Africa.

Obviously the infidel Santa would be captured by islamist extrmists and held ransom.

Most people don't realize that Santa was originally Odin on Sleipnir, and would kill anyone who tried to fight him.

Lol, she fact checked with my mom, who shaked her head at me, and then she told me they wouldn't all fit down the chimney. Then my mom told her the only way they would visit us is if it was me and my friends in ninja turtle suits.

LOL way to ruin some harmless fun, mom!!!

seriously, your mom should have just played it off like you were telling the truth, and then you both could have been laughing about it.

I know! Whenever I go to my mom's house, it seems like everytime I'm there me and my sister look on ebay for different costumes from stuff like that.

I showed her one from the old movies on ebay one time and she told me if I wore it I would have to hide in my room because people would throw rocks at me. Gotta love 6 year olds, lol.

My mom got the joke, she has a great sense of humor, but she likes to make me look nerdy.
